It's true that the books give you all the info you need (and the ladies on here of course) but seriously we were told to go home from class and practise blowing out a candle as my breathing excersise!!!! What the hell? lol

I'd love to do them but OH wont. Think she suffers from Tocophobia and so is determined to have elective c-section. Cant even discuss child birth with her without it stressing her in to a sweat.

I've booked NCT classes for September, but my friend didn't do any classes and she had not problems at all. I did consider not doing any too, but I think it is more for my husband's peace of mind than mine, so he knows what to expect and what is going on.

Sorry, I've just come across this thread on the internet when looking for classes in Caldedale. I live in Huddersfield and have been told that I can attend one free 90min session in October (I'm due 12th Nov with my first). Other than that my only choice is NCT classes which are £174. I really resent having to pay for them, so I'm not going. I've also done a quick survey in the office of all the mums and hardly anyone actually did them. I'm just going to read up on what to expect!!

Ours were cancelled cos of a shortage of midwives when I was pregnant with my first so no never went! You really don't need them IMO but it's personal choice and I wanted to learn the breathing excercises too but they just came naturally when I was in labour!

Im not going to any. As others said.. I dont think they could tell me anything more than i already know! As im only 19 iv got a young mums midwife who comes to my home when we have our apointments. She does some classes herself for young mums but she said i seem pretty well prepared and said unless i really want to meet other young mums then she can tell me everything when she comes to my home instead of going to the classes.
