I'm Currently Feeling: | Flying - Pregnancy/birth/after Birth My mum and i are really close and i have just moved to canada and got married, but she lives in England which is verry heartbreaking to be so far from her. i have a 2 year old daughter she loves more than anything and another on the way that uspets her even more so we have made a deal that we will have winters together but summers we will fly back to canada to be near OH family, just to be fair.
They have a Condo in dominican and we have just seen a beautiful place right opposite theirs just reduced that we can afford so were flying out in 3 days to buy it.
We was thinking of having the baby in Dom, so my mom could be there, but this scares me a little as i need to be super organized and need to know everything before going ahead, but are still looking at the hospital (that is a private 5 star) and finding out info when we arrive on friday just to weigh out our options. if we decide on birthing there, we will fly out in two months to settle before baby is born and plan to stay for 5-6 months (we dont work we get good income from our rentals) if not and plan to have baby here, we will fly out asap after birth.. im just wondering if anyone knows restrictions on fling after birth, ages and immunizations ect? were going to ask the midwife at next appointment but thats in 3 weeks x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I don't know about which immunizations are needed to travel to the dominican, but I was adopted and was taken on an airplane at just a day old. That was 19 years ago though and they may have an age requirement now, I'm not sure, but I was fine flying. I would expect some crying when the plane descends, because your babies ears will most likely hurt. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi
I don't know the answer but I wanted to say hi coz my husband and I moved to Canada in January from England so I know how it feels to be away from the family etc. I'm glad you can plan to spend part of the year with your family - i wish i could afford to do that.
Hope you figure out whatever works best for you

I'm Currently Feeling: | Not sure about this one, but can't you just call your midwife? I'm sure she'd be able to help over the phone, or may even make you another apoointment sooner, to discuss your concerns.
Hope you get things sorted soon - sounds so exciting!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | HI,
I think this will generally depend airline to airline, but I found a medical site that says generically airlines have restrictions to certain conditions:
Conditions that might cause problems include:-
Pregnancy beyond 36 weeks.
New born babies during the first few days after birth.
I think you'd have to check with your carrier.
As for immunisations, try: http://www.babycenter.com/0_immuniza...-to-know_95.bc
I understand about your Mum, we were considering moving to the Netherlands but I couldn't bear to be away from my Mum, it's probably an hour flight, which is ridiculously short but I'm such a chicken. You're being very brave and at least your child will grow up having had an interesting start to life. Good on you! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | thankyou so much girls, you are all superstars the reasone we settled for dominican is because its such a short flight ony 2-3 hours from Canada not 10 hours like flying to England. I had my DD in england and spent her first year there but was back and fourth to spain, france, canada and dominican i suppose im lucky that my parents like to travel as i developed a taste for the sunshine too i think we plan to settle in the dominican eventually though when DD starts school, i suppose its because my family is more of a tight-knit family and we very much love to be together we was always looking for a place nextdoor to my parents but them buying in Dom rep made it that much easier |
