Sorry you had to deal with such a nasty cow of a doctor! Is there any one else you could ask for advice, as it seems really strange that you wouldn't be entitled to even one scan free as pat of your antenatal care. Hope your private scan goes well hun
xx

Of course my dr. did it in his own office, but I didn't have to pay for it since it is considered a standard of care. You should call your insurance carrier and find out why they are denying it. By the way, I lived in OKC at the time, so it shouldn't matter what state you are in.
I had called Medicaid a few weeks prior to that appointment and they said they would pay for one ultrasound after 14 weeks unless the doctor decided more were medically necessary. My doctor's (almost) exact words were "You're a Medicaid patient. We don't like to do an ultrasound before 34-36 weeks if you show signs of something being wrong." If I lived over by OKC or Tulsa or even Lawton I'd already have a different doctor but down here in little old Altus there isn't another one unless I want to drive 60-75 miles while in labor.

Is it just me or wouldn't you want to know a problem exists before you're getting ready to deliver the baby? You know give the parents a little time to prepare for a less than perfect baby and if there is anything that will need to be done right away it can get setup - not running around at the last minute like a chicken with its head cut off.

I agree. I would rather know. If you can't see anyone else are you feeling brave enough to go back and see her and say right Mrs this is what Medicaid have said, and I would like a 20 week scan now. It seems strange that she'd order the other tests, but not let you have a scan!

At this current moment I'm feeling brave enough... When I go back on the 11th it might be a different story though. I start getting emotional and everything I want to say leaves my mind. And as happy as I am to be finding out the sex - an ultrasound tech is not the same as a doctor. Maybe they can see that something isn't quite right but not at the same level a doctor should be able to.

Oh do I miss my midwife!

I must admit I haven't spoken or shown my Doctor my u/s results. The technician just said everything was fine and I left it at that. They have the experience as they see these things all day everyday. But then I don't know how it works there.

I hope you get some answers. Be brave!
