I definately think you should seek some sort of help and support - especially if you arent getting any from your OH - its hard doing it on your own...

good luck xx

I wasnt a huge drinker before I was pregnant anyway, maybe a glass of wine with a meal every 2-3 weeks, so its hard for me to put myself in your shoes. I just hope you can get the help to stop before little one suffers. I would never judge you babe, remember we are all here to help you. Going cold turkey may be the best way, but your O/H certainly is not helping matters at all. it needs to be a joint effort if you are to succeed, he needs to remember that if he drinks, you and little one will suffer, if he cares enough he will stop too

Hi I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through. I won't judge because before I got pregnant (about six months before) I was a heavy drinker too.
I actually weaned myself down because I was convinced I'd never actually get preg with the amount I was drinking!!! It was SO hard and old habits die hard. But I realised I no longer was 'social' or 'normal' drinking but that it was a slippery slope to a bad place.
You won't be able to change until you admit that, if that is the case. Once you admit that, you are on the first step.
You then need to seek help - as some of the other girls have said, through a GP or even AA - I am not saying you are an alcoholic, but associations like that are amazing at pointing you in the right direction for help in your area.

But now that you are preg (here comes the lecture bit you really have to stop for the sake of your LO. your strength has to be stronger than your desire to drink - and I know that as you've cut down this far, you can cut down further!

If you want to PM me please do.

x

Well done for all your hard work so far, and also for your honesty here. I really take my hat off to you. I can only reiterate what the other girls have said and suggest you try and speak to your m/w or GP and ask for a referral to a specialist in this area. Now you have been so honest with us, maybe it might be easier to talk to them. Good luck and big

i just want to wish you good luck and send you lots of

it was very brave to come here and admit to the amount of you were drinking and you have done so well.

i think you need some sort of professional help and once your baby is here i would suggest not returning to drinking alcohol - this is a good chance to give it up totally! life is good with no alcohol in it -trust me!

i don't drink alcohol, neither does my hubby. it is largely due to religious reasons but also health reasons, and i don't like what alcohol does to people (my brother was an alcoholic and it nearly destroyed him). We still have a fab time & go out!

i wish you all the best.

Christine

thanks everyone, all what you've said means so much! i spoke to OH last night and basically said to him i was so scared tht i've harmed LO in some way by drinkin. I cant drink anymore - not only is it bad for her now, but what use am i going to be to her if im constantly drunk or if i end up killing myself with it? he's agreed that he needs to stop too so today he's not bought anythin and we're doin it together. Thanks again for everythin xxxxxxxx
