Unhappy

Afraid of Breastfeeding?

Ok sorry if this is TMI- but I've always said I will breast feed and now the more I think about it the more it creeps me out! I have always thought of my breasts as part of a "pleasure zone" for my OH. I know breast feeding is the best option and it's totally natural....but there is something about LO feeding where my OH likes to play....does anyone else have these feelings or any suggestions as to how to get over it or good alternatives? I mean the whole idea is reallllly starting to bother me. I want to do what's best for bubs...but I dont' know if I can bring myself to it

hey, you have just read my mind

have been having an issue with this too!!!!!
everyone tells me it will be different when bubsy comes along but im not convinced.
i have decided to prepare for all eventualities and have brought tomme tippe breast and bottle bottles so that i can share if i feel i need to. also buying a breast pump so that if i really do have an issue i can express and give my baby what it needs without having to go through the 'gross out' sensation i am scared of.

Let me know if you find any solution

I felt a little like this with my first but this time I dont at all. You just dont look at your boobs as sexual when your bubs arrives. It can be hard work but its really lovely.

lol I'm worried about doing it too, the idea of it makes me feel a bit sick, especially when I see a breast pump! But it's best for bubs and so I'm willing to give it a go

I figured I could just pump everything...aha I don't know if that's viable or not seeing as that would be a lot of pumping! Maybe they are all right and it'll be different when Bubs comes along. Hopefully some experienced ladies will post and help us out! Glad someone else feels the same way

I ended up b/f my oldest for 11 months. I never felt overly "sexual" when it came to my breasts b/c they have always been a bit smallish if you know what I mean. But it is strange to have something suckling on your boob. It did take a bit of getting used to, but it was also a very satisfying feeling. It truly is a special bonding time. I know there are moms out there who are militant b/f and think all women should b/f all of their kids. I am not one of those. I was successful at b/f 2 of my kids and 2 I had a hard time with and only lasted about a month. It really does all depend on how your baby latches, how comfortable you are nursing, and how well you produce milk. Everyone and every baby is different. I just suggest you give it a try, meaning give it a few weeks. It sometimes takes a while for you to get used to it and for your milk to really come in. You may just really enjoy it. I plan to b/f this baby and hope that it works out and that I don't have the problems I had with my last baby. If you have any questions (specific), I don't mind sharing my experiences. Just ask away.

I think if you keep and open mind and give it a try then no one can expect anymore.

I'm sure you'll be fine - and if when you do try you find you still cant do it, then dont let anyone guilt trip you!!

I really didn't want to do it because it didn't feel right. She had a bottle for her first feed then I really wanted to try. I didn't put any pressure on myself, and I loved it!! If you don't want to, don't force yourself.

I just don't think I'll feel comfortable. It seriously creeps me out.I just don't see my breasts in that wa and I can't imagine it.

And I know people will make me feel quilty for not trying but I just can't help myself...
