I agree ... at least you have been honest Alice!!

Ive only just caught up with this thread lol but am suprised how quickly its gone from being light hearted to a bit of a debate from my original question on whether its generally more ok to have a drink once out of first trimester ....

I dont think anyone has gotten nasty or accusatory here...

Bottom line for me? Not drinking cause it is a choice I can make to have one less thing to worry about. There are enough environmental hazards we dont see or know about, drinking is one I can avoid.

People who did drink little or large amounts of alcohol and didnt have any birth defects just got by on a stroke of luck.

Ive see plenty of babies subject to worse things then smoking and drinking and they have survived and been healthy... again, stroke of luck. Doesnt mean im gonna go start up smoking crack.

The smallest thing can affect anyone and no one knows, because our bodies are all different.

Just for what it's worth and also because I don't think anyone has said it yet (could be wrong). I'm pretty sure that both the government and NICE - were totally happy that 1-2 units a week are fine - the only reason they have changed their guideline is because a large number of people are incapable of judging what a unit is - so accidentally overdo it.

Years ago people used to go out and get roaring drunk when they were pregnant, eat what they wanted and smoke like chimnies and it didnt harm their babies.

*waits for the comments to role in about bein a heartless, selfish parent*
I agree with u. My sister who has never been pregnant likes to have an opinion about me drinking while pregnant and considering i dont actualy drink that much she really pissed me off lol

I went out for my 20th bday and had arches and lemonade only 2 and she just looked at me an said do you no how bad that is? I could have killed her lol.

I quit smoking because well i do think it looks awful when you see a heavly pregnant woman smoke and that it wasjust my choice to quit.

And i totaly agree with the years ago people used to.... coment because thats how i see things people are getting to u cant do this u cant do that because ur pregnant and it puts the fear of death in our minds.

My little rant is over lol
