I'm Currently Feeling: | Well I would personally still rather air on the side of caution and not drink at all. |

I hate this topic as many people go overboard on how * bad it is*
Its fine to have the odd glass , for gods sake back in the day women were encouraged to have some red wine when pregnant ( i cant remember what for)
Aslong as you dont get of your head ( obviously ) then it wont hurt. Theres women that go around getting wasted and there pregnant every weekend( read it in the mag) and there children came out fine and there were bunches of these women. Its some sort of 'group' so they say.
But anywho a glass every so often really wont do anything
Hope you enjoyed your drink ! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Peanutbean that made a very interesting read but where it said 3 drinks ... did that mean 3 drinks a week or 3 throughout your entire pregnancy? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I dont think being cautious is going overboard. :S
There are enough things we are exposed to daily that we cant help that we dont even know are harming us, alcohol is a choice of prevention we CAN help. |

They were mostly reviews and stuff, most new research tends to be done on mice and rats which is always tricky for comparison. If there any particular points that are of interest I could try and find the original source paper but I'm limited as to what Manchester Uni subscribe to.
Any research on people is always limited by what they tell the researcher they've done and all the many other compounding factors. For example, if a baby is born premature, is it because the mother drank a bit, smoked a bit, was stressed, had a fall, ate the wrong things, had a serious sickness etc etc. It's so hard to tease apart the effects and even more so the smaller they are. So if a mother has a couple of drinks it's going to be statistically impossible to work out if a deformity or whatever was a consequence of these or something else. This is why scientists err on the side of caution. We all want healthy babies so as Ryder said better to do what we can when we can, but the research can't really show whether small amounts definitively do or don't have a negative effect.
Sorry my posts are essays right now! I get carried away with this stuff! |

I've never heard of pregnant women who still have an occasional drink until now.....i know here in germany if anyone saw me take a drink they would be appalled. we're already being exposed to tons of unkown stuff like ryder said! why add to it? think about it....is LO really enjoying the effects? |

Not to mention that poor Holly would now be taken to rehab because of this glas of wine, and they would shave her head and make her attend A.A. meetings for the rest of her life... |
