I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't have a doppler so can't really give any advice on using one, but maybe the baby was just in an awkward position and that's why you couldn't find the heartbeat? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I know that sometimes people can have a hard time finding the baby's heartbeat due to the way that LO is positioned. It can also have to do with the location of your placenta.
Have you successfully located the heartbeat before, or was this your first time looking? It's common for women to hear the heartbeat one day and miss it the next. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | When I was seeing the Consultant, his registrar couldn't find the heartbeat, and that's after what, 7 years at med school? Sometimes it's just not that easy to find because of position or if they keep moving. Are you feeling movements? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi Sasha, welcome to BnB. There's just been a thread about this a couple of days ago so have a look through the backlog! In the meantime, the whooshing is probably the placenta and the thumping probably the baby's movements. It can be really hard to find the heartbeat, even in later weeks. Try using the doppler when you've a full bladder as that can help keep the baby up and they can't hide away behind the pelvis. Just be patient otherwise and don't assume there is anything wrong - it's much more likely that the baby is somewhere that the received can't pick up. Good luck! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi!
Try using the doppler quite low down, near your knicker line and on a full bladder. Don't panic if you cannot find it immediately as it could be the position your baby is lying in.
Also, it can depend on the type of doppler you are using. Angelsounds dopplers are really good and can be used from fairly early on. However, some dopplers like the one called Summerbaby (I think), can only really get a reading after 22/23 weeks.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I haven't got a doppler, but have heard many of the girls on here say that they have had some trouble finding heartbeat, even from one day to the next. Bubs is probably just laying in an awkward position, I'm sure all is fine. But if you're really worried, you could always phone your midwife. xx |
