I called yesterday to say hi to my DH's parents.

I was talking to my MIL and she was like "hows the baby? is baby ok? u feeling ok?" I was like yes, we are, thanks for asking.

Then she was like "u found out the gender?" I told her that we might be having a baby boy as we saw this a couple of days ago.

Then she didn't say a word. It was so silent and no one of us talked, then I said "hello?" then she says "Susana, I told u that I wanted a girl, where is the girl?"

Where is what? and who are u to ask this? I dont care what we are having as long as is healthy!!!!

I told then DH what his mom said and he was like "come on sweetie, u must have misunderstood her, she must have cried when u told her, that's why she stayed quite for a while" I told him I know what happened and it wasnt that.

Argh! I swear she meant it, and she said it in a mean voice. Oh well, I am glad it isnt a girl so that she gets more mad.

Ohh, and then she tells me "I cant wait for u to come and we can surprise everyone with ur belly as everyone is asking why u havent got pregnant" then I told her that I dont care about everyone, and they can just keep talking as much as they want! Uff! the only thing that worries my MIL is people's say.

I cant stand the idea of going to stay at their house for almost 1.5 months!!! I am going to do everything to avoid being with her as much as possible bec I swear we will fight!

I'm sorry she acted like that. Hopefully she'll come around to the idea of having a grandson, because honestly all that matters in the end is a healthy baby!

oh god..! sounds like a right 1 u got there... My MIL aint quite as bad but I do pick up on the way she says things, My OH is completly oblivious 2 this tho...ANNOYING..!

What is it that makes people think that you can pick the gender? Anyone short of a highly qualified genetic profiler anyway.

And why would you want to.

Maybe you need to make sure you visit only with your OH there, so he knows exactly what she says.

She sounds like the kid of woman that has to plan and organise everything. Well this didn't go according to plan, and when she meets and falls in love with your little guy I hope she bitterly regrets what she said to you.
