I'm Currently Feeling: | *16 week appointment* Hello ladies!
I'm just returned from my MW appointment. All went really well. She found the heartbeat straight away, was 140bpm. I expected it to sound faster but that's fine apparently. I'd made myself a list of loads of questions this time so had quite a bit to chat about. Found out I can go to yoga now and it's in the evening so I don't need to miss work. I didn't want to miss more as I'm already doing aquanatal during work time. The best thing is we talked about the birth a bit and they were dead keen when I said I was interested in a birthing pool at home. MW said I just have to pay for a liner, about £20, and it will be brought to my home for about 4 weeks. When I said how much I like swimming and aquanatal the MW said I would really benefit from the water birth. Apparently this MW team have a super record for home births. I feel quite excited about it now!
Had a few leukocytes in my pee but I've not had any signs of infection so hopefully nothing to worry about. No protein or anything more concerning. My BP was a little high (but still in the normal range) though not surprising as I was still in a bit of a sweat from dashing to the doctors.
But the weirdest thing happened this morning. I had to be out of bed early for my appointment though I wasn't awake any earlier than normal as I'm always too hungry to sleep past 7am. I've had a week of no sickness except a tiny bit of nausea in the evenings and 4 whole days of not retching while cleaning my teeth. Having to be up and about I wasn't really surprised when I did retch cleaning my teeth but I was surprised when I suddenly threw up my bowl of coco pops in the sink! I've only been sick once with morning sickness and that was at 9 weeks. It was pretty bizarre! And right before I had to go to the MW, hence the dashing there and high BP. I didn't even feel particularly nauseous. I feel fine now though. Very strange!
Anyway, I'm pretty happy about the pregnancy right now (despite the random vomit). Got my scan in 4 weeks, then 2 weeks holiday, then my next MW appointment on my first day back at work. All good! |

I cant believe they provide you with a pool!!! Thats so lucky! We have to hire/buy one which is between 100 and 300 quid depending on which one we get. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks everyone! I was surprised by the pool bit too, thought I would have to pay loads to hire it. But I don't know yet if there will be issues with availability. We'll see! |

Although, can I admit that for some reason it made me chuckle when I read the part where you throw up your cocoa puffs? I hate cocoa puffs...
Anyway,it's great that they are giving you the pool,I am actually interested in a waterbirth in the hospital.I love swimming,I practiced synchronized swimming for a huge part of my life and I would really love it.... |

As for the throwing up - I ate a crisp and had a drink of orange juice when I was about 14 weeks and that came straight back up and I haven't had any other sickness at all. It was really wierd. I think that kind of thing is maybe just your body saying it doesn't want that, lol. I wasn't ill or anything either though, very wierd. |

For a while coco pops was all I could eat! I've been through phases of toast, bran flakes and coco pops. They're good for getting a quick meal in when I'm off out and not going to be able to eat for a while, though apparently not today! lol I recall a few threads about people craving coco pops! Must be all that synthetic Kellogg's goodness!
As for the pool, I never feel so happy as when I'm in or near water. I'm a Pisces, a marine biologist, was always quite a good swimmer (am otherwise the worst person at sports ever!), and have never felt quite so at peace as when I've been sat on the bottom of the sea looking around at the life and sunlight on the sand ripples. I think there must be something in the water for me so maybe the pool will really help the birth. I hope so! I hope you are able to get a waterbirth too. |
