The Fear......

I hope no-one thinks I'm selfish posting this when other people have much bigger problems but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way....

I keep worrying something bad is going to happen to my baby. I was admitted a couple of weeks ago for 3 days with severe contraction-like pains (came in waves every 5-15mins) but luckily they died down. Since then, three times now, I've leaked some kind of fluid when I've stood up- sorry if TMI, it didn't feel like I had an accident I was just suddenly aware of a trickle down my legs. I also had the pains again on saturday night although fortunately they settled down again after 6-7 hours at home. I had a MW appointment last wed and the HB is fine but I'm still worried that something will go wrong soon. I didn't tell her about the leaking as I was worried about what she'd say- silly I know... I'm having some problems with my ex-husband as well, he's not a nice person at all (major understatement) and he still keeps trying to cause trouble for me (don't really want to go into too much detail on a public forum) and I'm also worried that all the stress of this will have an adverse effect on the bump. My OH is being amazingly supportive but I don't want to worry him too much about how down I'm feeling.

Just wondered (after all the rambling) if anyone else had these kinds of worries or if I'm just being ridiculous?

I dont think you are being ridiculous. I think we all go though periods of time like that. In 3 weeks time your baby will be officially viable and so in the unlikely event of them putting in an early appearance, they would probably be fine.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but isnt Mr Dizzle an obstetrician in training??? Not many ladies have the luxury of their own 24hr consultant!! And not only is he yours to consult when ever you like....YOU CAN SNOG HIM TOO!!!!!!

Dizzle,

You are not being silly at all - I think well all have worries about our pregnancies and no matter how big or small they are, we still worry. I have been having a bit of pelvis pain when I walk and, me being me, have 'googled' everything about it and inevitably have started worrying about all sorts of scenarios.

I think that if you had pains a couple of weeks ago and on Saturday, it is no wonder you are worrying. However, it is more than likely to be just stretching pains and the fluid is probably just increased discharge, very common (I think there was a thread on this last week).

However, if you are worried, you should still go to GP and get it checked out.

You aren't being ridiculous at all. I think it's normal to have worries and concerns, especially with your trip to the hospital. Good luck with your MW appointment

I don't think you're being selfish for a second!

I was feeling so scared when I was released from the hospital at 20 weeks,I was scared to move!
You have no idea what a relief to me will be once I hit 24 weeks.

Talk to your husband or midwife or come on here and post at any time you're worried about anything!

Not at all silly, I worry have had no symptoms to really make me worry (touch wood).

I think leakage, no matter how small, is something you need to tell your MW about. If it's nothing she can confirm that, but it could be a sign of something else, best to be sure.

From what some of the others have said - I don't think worrying is somthing that only lasts for your pregnancy. Now you have LO in your life you will love and worry about him/her for the rest of your life.

Umm.. if you're having leaks then you should go get checked at a clinic or something asap just to be careful. It's always better to be safe than sorry. Especially if it's when you stand up, you just want to be sure it's not your fluids so I suggest you get checked right away.

Good luck with your appointment hun! I am sure everything will be fine. Try not to worry, the doctors have so much medical knowledge nowadays that they can help with so many complications.

Don't feel silly - we can all relate to how you're feeling, it's totally natural to have these fears.... Trouble is only someone in the medical profession can give you that peace of mind..... which will probably last 2 minutes before we worry about something else!!! D'oh!!!!!
