Ugh.. illness.

I've woken up this morning with a really back hacking chesty cough, my nose bunged up and a raging headache. Dunno where it's come from but its making me miserable and i've had to call in sick at work.

Does anyone know what reliefs I can and can't take? My brother offered to go to the chemist for me but I didn't know what to tell him to get and bless him, I don't fully trust him to get the right things.

Ugh.. horrible horrible. I'm just going to sit here feeling sorry for myself

theres not much u can take tbh, well actually nothing apart from paracetomol i don't think and then they advise you take them sparodically. MAybe steaming your face might ease it up, just watch you don't get too hot.

Meh, thanks. I didn't think there was much but thought there might be something I could take. I'll just have to stick it out I guess

I'm not a very good patient as you can tell, hah. If I can't handle a cough and cold how will I handle labour?

Oh well, its an excuse to stay in bed, lol.

i had a really bad cold at 18 weeks and i was told by pharmacist and midwife there is nothing i could take. i just drank lots of hot water with honey and fresh lemon squeezed through it. it was gone in a couple of days - seemed to do the trick.
give that a whirl - did wonders for me and it tastes okay.

I had a cough and cold 2 weeks ago or so and I too made a drink of hot honey and fresh squeezed lemon also. It worked wonders straight away my nose would run and I got better within no time. I don't blame you for feeling sorry for yourself I certainly did. It's even harder being ill and pregnant your energy levels just drop completely. I hope this helps you. Get well soon. x

Oh thanks for that, i'll be giving it a whirl.

I'm just a bit paranoid because its a really chesty cough that sort of.. rattles, and I often feel it down in my stomach when i'm having a fit of coughing, so I want to get rid asap.

There's really not much you can take. Paracetemol/Tylenol is fine. You might also try sucking on hard candies for a sore throat/cough. Gargling warm salt water is supposed to help with sore throats as well. Hope you start feeling better soon.
