I'm Currently Feeling: | Need help and advice, books, website etc please Morning ladies
I have realised that time is ticking by very quick and I have not even started to prepare for babs arrival.
My sister hs just sent me a book, The New Contented Little baby Book by Gina Ford and from what I have read so far, has some interesting and helpful facts.
BUT, I wondered if anyone had found a website or book where I can get other info from like:
Best position for cot? Temperature of the room? How to position your baby to reduce risk of SIDS? etc
Sounds daft maybe, but I am in Bulgaria and I want to read and find out things for myself without having to rely on OH and so I can educate his mum also!!!! It's getting scary to be honest, I feel totally unprepared. My mum comes out in a few weeks so an y books you can recommend which might help me as a reference would be great. But then I am on my own till October, after babs is born, mum and dad are coming out but not sure when!!
I am going to go through this book I have for info so I can make a list of things I need to buy so I can mark them off once they are bought. I'm getting nervous, no regrets at all and I can't wait for babs to make her appearance, but I feel sick with nerves, Can I do this????????????
How have you all been getting on with preparing for your baby? Am I panicking for nothing? Will it come natural to me? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Can't recommend any books, I'm relying on my surplus of family for advice after baby is born.
But yes, I too am beginning to panic. Only in the last few days but getting fearful not only of giving birth but of having the baby in our lives forever! It's a pretty daunting prospect. I'm sure we'll love the baby tonnes and will love being a family, but until we're there with the baby in our arms I'm getting pretty terrified! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi Peanut
Thanks for the reply, I was beginning to think it was just me!!!!! I have just contacted a private clinic in the city to see how much it costs to have my baby there, hopefully someone will speak English!!!!
It's things like, after feeding, how do I know when I've winded baby enough, until what age do I hold the chin/head before putting over shoulder, I can change a nappy but what comes before that, wipe, talc, or cream comes before talc, how soon do you use baby soap, how long do you just bathe in water, etc etc etc etc etc??????????
My one panic is that our house will not be built before our baby is born and the house we have now does not have central heating. Luckily, it will still be fairly warm when she is born, so no new new born to deal with in the winter. My concern is we have a wood burner, it heats the whole house as it's only small but during the night it goes out and believe when I say our bedroom is the coldest room in the house so we will need a heater to keep the room at a nice temp, but what temp??????
If anyone knows of a website or a book that has the basics in regarding a new born, I'd really appreciate you letting me know. My mum is over in July so can bring a book for me then, but after that ........ well Bulgaria does not sell books in English like what I am looking for. Maybe there is no book, maybe it is down to knowledge passed down from other mums, but I do not have that luxury on hand, this is scary!!!!
Can any one help please. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | What to Expect the First Year? I'm not sure exactly if that has exactly what you're looking for, but the What to Expect When You're Expecting is pretty much a godsend. Also, maybe try googling your individual questions? |

How have you all been getting on with preparing for your baby? Am I panicking for nothing? Will it come natural to me? | Well. i've jus been readin pregnancy mags bth. I've got quite a lot of info from them. Don't really have people i can ask, not for up to date info anyway. And as for dp, he's been readin my mags too (often b4 me may i add 'humph!') and i brought him a book called the blokes guide to pregnancy by Jon Smith. Thats quite a good read even for me. Though thats more to do with now (pregnancy) than the aftermath but thought it was worth a mension. Room tempretatures can be found in catologues actually combined with how many sheets to use for the temp. I'm pretty sure it's in the babies r us catologue. |
