I'm Currently Feeling:

Lump

Hi ladies, I was scratching my back today when i found a lump about an inch and half in diameter. It's on the right hand side, about three quarters of the way down, and a couple of inch from my spine. It's underneath the skin, not painful, but quite hard.
I was just wondering if any of you have had anything similar. I'm not expecting a diagnosis or anything, but i'm a bit worried. I'm going to go to the docs on monday, but i'd rather come on here than be googling.
I've posted this on health, and wellbeing too, i hope that's allowed.

could it be a pimple? I don't want that to sound dismissive but I have had the odd pimple come up on my back over the years and before it really forms sometimes it is just a huge hard lump. Nice eh? Let's hope it is nothing more than that.

Perhaps it could be a cyst as well.

The lump doesn't move it's under the skin, but fixed in place. I'm sure it's probably nothing, but i do get sciatica on that side, so i will mention it to doctors.

It is probably just a cyst from a sweat gland or something. I would go to GP about it though, just in case.

My OH has some on his back. They are just little cysts. I got one on my foot last year, that got pretty big. My dr. said it was nothing to worry about, and it went away after about 8 months. I hope it is nothing as well. It is good to mention it though.

It could be any number of things - cyst, lipoma, ingrowing hair. Just get it checked out, they're usually harmless and they can all be removed easily if it bugs you.
