Just because there's nothing dangling about doesn't mean it's not a boy. They have to see the female sex organs before they can say "yep it's a girl"

I would say just wait. Just to be on the safe side. I did that. The first time the dr looked she wouldn't let him see so he said he wasn't sure. His exact words were "I can't see anything dangling about but that doesn't mean it's not a boy. I would have to get a better look to give you a definate" So we waited until he could see what was going on down there properly.

I would try and organise another scan, as i would be freaking out not knowing!!!!

As for the sonographer they should'nt really persume anything..

I thought if they were unsure then they were not allowed to say...

Well i hope you find out what your having, and let us all know hun...

I would most certainly not take the sonographer's words as being true and correct. Doesn't sound like he saw the private parts of your baby very well.

I would advise for you to have a 4D scan in order to confirm the gender.

Best wishes!

i think there's always a 2% of them getting it wrong even if they can see everything. it happened to someone in work, she was actually told she was having a girl and bought pink stuff etc then actually had a boy, so its probably best to stick to white for now!

Hi,
I agree- wait to see on a further scan. We have our 20 week scan next monday- but we had a private gender scan 3 weeks ago. The sonographer said it was a girl and showed us the 3 lines that are supposed to indicate a female cavity. She said she was certain, but there is always a 2% chance it's wrong. We too saw the 3 lines and feel confident in the diagnosis- but we are going to ask the NHS sonographer next week and pretend we haven't allready had a scan.

Also- our little one had her legs crossed, but luckily she was face down on my uterus as my bladder was so full, the sonographer was able to move the probe around and under the area under scrutiny. I then had to empty my bladder as she really had no room to move and we saw from other angles the 3 lines.
I guess though that as it was a private scan the sonographer had more time to ensure what she was seeing- on the NHS the main reason for the 20 week scan is to check everything is ok, rather than what we are having, so I presume if they are in an awkward position they don't really take the time to sex the baby.
Our sonographer also said even if she saw something dangling that doesn't automatically mean a boy as it could be the chord.

Can you go for a private scan at all?
D

I was told with Faith that "there was nothing to suggest it was a boy" but she still said not to go buying pink so I just told people that "they think it's a girl but it's not 100%". Imagine my horror when my OH's grandparents gave us a christmas present (Faith came in the Jan) with a tag saying "to our beautiful great grandaughter" and inside all pink girly babygro's! I was convinced they'd cursed us and that I was going to end up having a boy!

Anyway I'd try and have another scan so you're 100% sure otherwise you'll just be wondering x

This isn't a given,I wouldn't take the word as gospel.

If the baby had it's legs crossed then the sex couldn't be determined.
If you want to find out badly then get another scan or you can just carry on with the yellow bump and it'll be a surprise...xxx
