Low placenta

hi all, hope you are well.

i have a question. had a scan on fri and all is well with bump which was fantastic, even if bump takes after dad - legs crossed and arms behind head chillin!!!

they only discovred one issue. a low placenta 2cm clear of cervix.... i have been booked in for another scan at 32 weeks to check its position.

Am somewhat clueless, should i be worried, is this a big deal??? does any one have any advice or experience of this???? Thanks

I don't have personal experience. However, my understanding is that more often than not the placenta moves as your uterus grows. The 32 week scan is just to check this has happened I think.

Congrats on your healthy LO

Mine was pretty low lying at 15 weeks and then again at 20 weeks. Now at 26 weeks it seems to have moved up a bit.

I asked my gynae about it since he didn't say anything. He said they normally dont worry about the position until later because all placentas start off low and most move up themselves.

If they've only made another appointment for 32 weeks then it doesn't sound like they're too concerned.

Unfortunately I can't give you anything else. I'm sorry.
I think if they didn't worry too much about it then it should be fine. At least they'll check again for you Hoping all will be fine for you

My placenta was low with my first, but by the time i had my 32 week scan it had moved. It's really not a big deal at the moment, but i think if it hasn't moved by 32 weeks they might start discussing c-sections. Loads of womens are low lying, but move so try not to worry

Thanks for all your messages. the worry seems to have subsided a little as a result

ill keep fingers crossed for the 32 week scan, but at the end of the day a c-section isnt the end of the world just as long a bump is ok

thanks again

A lot of times a low placenta will move up and correct itself so I wouldn't worry too much--as the others have said. Plus your doctors know about it and will have the scan at 32 weeks to make sure everything is ok!
