I'm Currently Feeling: | Advice please (possibly TMI!!)... Hello I'm new here, and I hate for my first post to be a gross one, but I need advice.
I had a mw appointment on weds, for a while before I had been suffering with thrush. But it wasn't like normal thrush, it was all the normal symptoms but also with a particularly nasty greenish discharge. So the mw took a swab just incase it's something nastier that needs antibiotics, but also prescribed me some cannesten for the thrush symptoms. Anyway, the thrush symptoms have completely gone but I'm still getting the nasty discharge. I called to speak to the mw today but I didn't get to speak to my normal mw, and the one I spoke to just said keep using the cannesten cream and call in a few days if it still hasn't cleared up. I know it's nothing to do with the thrush (I'm really worried I've got a nasty infection that could harm the baby) but she didn't seem worried. So I called my doctors surgery to see if they have the swab results in but they haven't, the (rude) receptionist said that they should be in by wednesday. I don't know what to do now, I'm really concerned that if this is something nasty that it needs to be treated asap. I suppose that all I can do is wait until somebody calls me with the results, or call back on wednesday if I don't hear anything by then. I'm really worried and can't stop crying since I spoke to mw and receptionist, because nobody seemed to care or want to help me.
Has anybody else had these kind of nasty symptoms? Or does anybody have any idea whet they might be caused by? I just need reassurance everything's ok and I'm not putting my baby in danger.
Sorry for the rant... | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hello hun,
If they are not too concerned then I would imagine its nothing to worry about. Im sure its not harming your LO in any way.
I had a nasty bout of thrush which wouldnt go away no matter what i used so maybe its just a symptom of it thats not wanting to budge?
Try not to worry and give them a call in a couple of days if its still hanging around - demand to see someone if they try and dismiss it again.
Hope you feel better soon and try not to worry

I'm Currently Feeling: | Why not try a GU clinic. Even if you don't think its an sti they can do more in depth swabs. Good luck!! |

| I don't think discharge is normally green with thrush is it? I think if it were me I'd get an appointment asap with someone - does your GP surgery let you phone in the morning for an 'urgent' appointment that day?
Nice for your to join us - hopefully your next thread will be a happier one |

I'm Currently Feeling: | The attitude at GP's (and their receptionists) winds me right up! I'm sure it will all be fine hun, but why don't you call NHS direct and get some advice, or even go down to A and E and be seen by a dr who can take swabs and test on site? Also, the GUM clinic was a good suggestion because many clinics have labs on site and can give some instant results too.
Good luck! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks for all your replies girls, I think I'm going to call my surgery tomorrow and ask to get an emergency appointment because that means speaking to the triage nurse who'll decide if it's serious enough to need to see a doctor. That way I won't be wasting anybody's time.
I've also got my first driving lesson tomorrow since failing my test a year ago. I just don't need all this stress!!! | | | | Status: Offline
