Had my NT scan last friday (haven't posted any photos cause they are very blurry). We went to see a consultant at a nearby hospital (not my usual hospital) and paid to have scan and bloods. I got great results Down 1:15166 and 1:7525 for edwards (think thats what its called). Anyway, getting back to the point, the consultant advised me to have bloods taken at 16 wks to test for spina bifida. He said wouldn't need triple test but single blood test. Has anyone else been advised to do this?

I was told that the 16 week bloods would be pointless with me having the NT scan. I didnt have them so it wasnt a waist of NHS resources. The didnt mention a single test.

The bloods for downs for the nt are done 2-3 weeks before the nt scan. You don't have the 16 weeks bloods for downs if you've had the nt, as the info can b conflicting and wrongly throw up a red flag. however, you can have the 16 week bloods for spina bifida if you want, but they can normally give a pretty good inication of this too at the nt scan.... hope this helps
