Fellow teachers - the baby name dilemma!

I was just wondering if there were any other fellow teachers on the forum?

I was reading a post of Merv's Mum and thought about how true it was, about teachers and baby names. When you are a teacher, there are a lot of names you immediately rule out due to a teaching experience!!!

What are your 'ruled out' names?

A few of mine are:

* Dean
* Shaun
* Natasha (especially when known as 'Tasha')
* Ashleigh

(no offence if any of you have decided to call your baby these names - they are nice names in themselves - but if you have taught five Deans, who have all been cheeky ones, you quickly develop an allergy to the name!!)

I do like most names - it is just in the Secondary school I teach, there are certain names that are so popular. In one class, I had three Deans, two Darrens and two Shauns - and that was just in one class.

I know some lovely Rebeccas!!! But the little sour pussed chavette that springs to mind aint lovely!!!!

Another thing I find is people calling their dogs certain names too puts you off. For example I love the name Poppy but a very good friend of ours has a dog called Poppy. Oh and Max - I love that name but I just think of dogs called it!!! Thats why my dogs have ridiculous names!!

I know someone with a dog called Maddie, which me and my partner liked Maddison and maddie for short, but I wasn't going to call her that when I know a dog with same name!

Wink

Am totally with you poppy! I've got so many names I dislike now! I could never name it: dean (must be a great naughty boy name), jayden ( 3 of the worst pupils ever), luke, Adam (shame, used to like it), louise, Mia (aaargh), anisa... The list could be endless. Apologies to those of you naming your children these, they are lovely names but have been attached to some vile children over the years!! I'm not sure this baby will get a name...
