I'm Currently Feeling: | I have a pram issue 8'( I'll apologise now incase i start ranting
Ever since i started thinking about prams i kinda knew exactly what i wanted. I wished for a proper pram that can convert into a rear and forward facing pushchair (pramette/2 or3/in 1) with a bar handle. However, finding a pram with a bar handle that wasn't incredibly bulky became increasingly difficult so i settled for the pramette style with 2 handles. I fell in love with the mama and papas pliko pramette; http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/produ...748801/type-i/, that retails at 410 for the pramette and car seat. This does not however, have the rear facing pushchair option. So i thought i'd settle for this even though it meant i was missing out on 2 out of the 3 things i originally wanted.
At the weekend, me and some family went for a browse round mothercare and a sales man came over and started talking to us (well actually he wouldn't shut up for about 30 minutes lol) about prams. He made some valid points to consider, such as asking in shops about warranty, that car seats only have a 2hour limit because they bad for the spine apart from loola which is 4. More importantly to me that a rear facing pushchair should be a high priority as a study was carried about by the national literacy stratergy which shows that children in rear facing pushchairs develop upto 9 months quicker because they're spoken to more. As a trainee teacher, to me this is very important. The sales assistant told us that many mothers come in with 6 month old babies looking for a new rear facing pushchair and waste a lot of money through it. So i spent hours the other day collating a list of prams that have the rear facing option.
well the cheapest we can get a nice rear facing pushchair that we both like is £545, the m&p's 8 in 1 ultima http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-s0003137/type-s/ or u can get it on the net for £500. Dp is really not happy tho and adament that we're not spending much over £400 and he's really not for budging. Parents r buying us the pram and we're just going to top up whatever, because obviously we don't want to ask for that much.
The fact of the matter though is i'm gutted he won't agree with me on the rear facing pushchair. Me and Dp never squabble about anything not in the 3 and half yrs we been together, we normally come to some kind of agreement, but this has meant we've started. he's worried about our money situation whilst i'm on maternity leave, which i fully understand its going to b difficult. He says i probably won't use the rear facing mode much but i bet i do. Am i just being unreasonable?? Any cunning ideas on how i can persuade him?? Or can anyone suggest a website i might be able to get them cheaper? | |

I'm Currently Feeling: | ah hun i dont have much advise but i wanted to tell u i was gonna buy the pramette but they have discontinued the model so i did find it in a few stores but gave it a second thought. I ended up buying the pliko p3 and matching car seat and im really happy I did. I got a 2007 model instead of getting the 2008 and so I saved a ton of $$$$. | | | | Status: Offline

| It so hard isn't it? I wish I could help but I'm stuck myself.
First I was certain I wanted a Silver Cross but now I'm not sure if it's too hard to put down and too heavy?
My hubby insists on a carseat that is properly fitted by Vauxhall but isn't it better to be able to lift baby out in the seat when he's asleep?
Now I'm wondering about front/rear facing options too!
Lets just hope someone on here has it all sussed so they can give us some useful advice.
By the way, there's a lovely lady in Preston Babies R Us that spent ages showing us all the different models. Even though I'll be buying mine in Reading (bless her!). | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I dont reaaallly have any advice either, but was going to say you have to make it like its his idea. When i was younger my mum used to teach us this ha ha she said that the only way to get a man to do something is to flatter them and make them think that it was their fabulous idea all along. Like my OH does not see the point in the pram i want, but then i made some comment to the fact that i liked his idea about saftey and things and that i thought his idea of a lying down carseat was great (the pram i want does that) also said that u know its the only one that looks masculine as well.... cant really remember exactly what i said but seemed to have worked and now im getting pestered into going to john lewis to see it ha ha ha!!
Doubt that helps really but hey ho hope you get the one you want in the end. Alternativly make him feel guilty that he's done something really bad and blackmail him for it. Maybe im just really mean i should prob keep quiet ha ha ha!! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I have been having the very same dilema. I am keen to have a good pram and also desperately want a forward and rear facing pushchair. Another reason for wanting the rear facing is that I do alot of walking, and when LO is in the pushchair it will be winter, and windy and cold, and if the baby is facing me it will be more comfortable. Just a thought!
Anyway. The Silver Cross Freeway http://www.silvercross.co.uk/freeway_linear.php
has a forward and rear facing pushchair. I haven't seen it yet but am hoping to at the baby show I'm going to on Sunday. If the pram is as comfy looking as the Silver Cross 3D then I'm going for it. However, I don't know the full price. With this one, you can get the Ventura car seat to clip into the base unit.
The other option is the Chicco Trio for Me. This comes with a car seat and seperate carrycot included http://www.babyequipmentcomplete.com...FRQYsgodvA3rnQ
Hope this helps! I'll see what else I can find out on Sunday! | | | | Status: Offline

I also thought you seemed quite far away from the baby aswell. The guy in mothercare said it was a no no, they only sell 1 a month if they're lucky. I much preferred the 3d but its difficult to collapse as it all needs to come apart. | | | | Status: Offline
