I'm Currently Feeling:

Very low blood pressure

Hi girls

Well what a skype call I have just had. Told my mum about my having a girl and told her what the doc says.

Of course she is worried about the low blood pressure, I am too, 85/40, and wants to know what the doc is doing about it. I said nothing, she of course is not happy. I have had no dizziness or fainting, in fact I feel great!

Now, I have been drinking more fruit juice than water, sugar free, so maybe that could be part of the problem??!! My mum also mentioned diabetes, as some women can develop a form of D in pregnancy. Does anyone know where I can get more info?

She now, of course, wants me back in the UK for tests there as she doesn't feel like I'm getting the right treatment here. I feel more stressed now than I did before. I know she's looking after me, I can understand that now I have a little one inside me, but oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I can't leave OH, he's building our house, trying to bring money in and run our business, I can't leave him on his own, it's not fair. We are a partnership and work together, we go through everything together. Part of me wishes I hadn't told her, but how can I not, she's my mum.

So has anyone else had low BP, what were you advised to do or what were you given to help? As my mum says, it's the baby that is at risk, not me!!

My blood pressure is always low - 100/60 - but not as low as yours which, I have to admit, sounds very low to me.

However, I didn't think low BP was a problem unless it made you feel dizzy etc ?

Hope all works out OK for you

I was told when i was pregnant you would rather want low blood pressure than HIGH blodd pressure, Mine was around 170/90 close to the end and it was also the main factor why i lost my son, so LOW blood pressure is Beter than HIGH. Im no expert but i will still go for a second opinion thou.

Good LUCK

85/40 is much too low. It usually means you arn't eating enough for your bodies calorie/nutrient consumption. The only thing I can suggest to you is to eat more fruit, cheese and drink more natural juices. All natural juices has natural sugars in it.

You should be able to go to any health care provider and request a diabetes test.

Can you not go back to the UK for a couple weeks? Do you have to fly there? I would not recommend flying with low BP, you risk too much.

I have been reading up, but not much in the way of answers. I always think it is better to ask other people who have gone through similar and listen to there advice/opinions/suggestions/stories. I know everyone is different, but in this case, I think the answer would be pretty much the same.

I have been sleeping well, I drink water during the day but this powdered fruit drink, sugar free in the evening to give me a bit of a change. Maybe this is part of the problem! I don't eat enough fruit, but I do eat salads. Luckily, I have a craving for cheese on toast lately so cheese is no problem

I take multi vitamins, folic acid and vitamin E. All prescribed by previous doc but my latest one says keep taking.

I am going to try and see another doc this week, check my blood pressure again and see if they say I should take anything or do anything. I would prefer not to fly back to the UK, although mum would be happy (but then may lock me in a room and not let me out till I'm in labour!!!), I have faith in the docs here, it's just different.

I'm still not sure about this other blood test though. Can I refuse to have it?????
