My hospital appointment yesterday

So, as some of you may know, I went to the hospital on Saturday as had not felt beanie move since Thursday and they had trouble finding her heartbeat (although thankfully they did find it in the end and all was well). Anyway, the midwife told me if I'd still not felt her for 48 hours that I must return to do some more checks. So, went back yesterday as she was still quiet and spoke to the most horrible, insensitive midwife i have ever met in all my life.

Had already been told that she is measuring slightly small but when this woman prodded my stomach then measured she said I was only measuring 19 - 20 weeks and so wouldnt be able to feel her move yet anyway? WHAT??? The whole reason I went there in the first place is because shes been booting me to death for the last 4 weeks then ive felt nothing for a few days! Explained this to her and she said its probably just wind ive been experiencing and that I should go home and try not to worry
I think by now ive learnt the difference between wind and my baby kicking!
No matter how hard we tried to explain that i was approaching 25 weeks, and showed her my maternity notes with an EDD of 29/08, she wouldnt listen and kept saying there was no way I was more than 20 weeks.
At this point I was crying and demanded to see someone else.
Eventually we saw another midwife who was lovely. She said I'd definitely done the right thing by going back. Again she tried to find heartbeat with no luck so I had to have another scan. Found beanie who was lying in a ridiculous position, head right down, all sqashed up and back to back! Her heart was beating well on the scan but they did decide to monitor me for a few hours to keep track of her movements. She was very quiet but they eventually let me go and just said i need to keep a very close eye on her movements and if im worried about anything then to go back straight away. Typically as soon as we left the hospital she went mad but im so glad she is having a good wriggle again instead of hiding away like she has for the last few days!!

Sorry for long post and if youve got this far than thanks for reading!

I'm so pleased LO is OK and the second mw was so lovely and helped you. Where do they get some of these mw's though. The first one you saw should be struck off!

She should! It makes me so mad though because we forever hear stories about nasty midwives and they shouldnt be allowed to get away with it! Im sure the majority of them are lovely but there are a few that really let them down!

It's a relief to hear that you and baby are OK, Sparky

Sounds like you had a really stupid old bag of a MW though - I'm sorry to hear this as it must have made things even more scary. Thank goodness your mum was there to save the day.

I hope you and your little girl are both well from now on.
