Bleeding

I know in the first tri forum there were a number of threads about bleeding but havent seen so many in here so just wanted to ask. Had no bleeding or spotting or anything to date, in fact I barely know I am pregnant half the time.
However last night (after a spot of nookie ) I bleed, a dark colour like at the end of a period. There was a noticable amount but it stopped quite quickly. Did speak to doctors this mornign who said unless it was a big bleed not to worry. dont think its classified as a big bleed but it was a lot more than spotting.

Just wanted to check that was fairly normal and its nothing to worry about.

I've not had this but I have read about other ladies having the same problem on this forum, I don't think it's that unusual.

If it continues, though, I would ask your MW about it.

It hasn't happened to me, but my sis will bleed a little after almost every spot of nookie- once in a while she won't, but most frequently she will. So I would chalk it up to that.

It could be just a vessel or something...It's a pretty sensitive area now, filled with blood.
If it stopped now,you shouldn't worry, but if it continiues go to the midwife.
And even if it doesn't continue, mention it on your next appointment,I recommend...xxx

Probably just cervical erosion like Ann-Marie said, but if you are concerned you could pop up to see your midwife.

Figure 21.2 Cervical Erosion (Ectopy)

During puberty, when taking the pill and during pregnancy, the cervix enlarges and the columnar epithelium from the cervical canal seems to move out (almost like a flower opening) to cover part of the vaginal cervix. The clinician looking at the cervix sees a deep pink velvet-like appearance, which has been called erosion, ectropion or an ectopy (Figure 21.3). The majority of women with cervical erosions have no problem but some are troubled by excessive discharge or bleeding after intercourse (post-coital bleeding).

I had the exact same thing, only bright red blood. I was told to hold off on the nookie for a few weeks and then if no more bleeding we could go back to our normal sex life. I also had a bit of brown blood for a day after as well. This happened twice, and was just sensitive cervix.

I think it's pretty normal to have some bleeding after sex, not sure on the color though. Never hurts to ask your MW to have it checked out

Thank you for putting my mind at rest . There still is a very small amount of discharge but its dark coloured and very little so I think it must be the cervical erosion. Have a little cramp like pain to, one and off for a good few days now so will metnion to MW next time I see her
