I got my results from my first blood test like 8 weeks later!! they stick it in my maternity notes!!!

mine was to test diabetes.... but only had one blood test and didnt need to go hospital!!! Strange how different countys have different variations!!!
i know its weird you'd think they'd have the same routine as other counties/nhs trusts.
ive got to have a diabetes test at 28 weeks cause im a lil porker haha.
well ive had my anomaly scan and everything was a okay on that so i wont worry too much about the test results although i will have the chased up.

I don't know why you'd have to fast? I didn't have to fast, they just told me to eat normally and to come in and drink the fluid.. and then not eat/drink anything for an hour, and then they took some blood. Maybe it's different in different places?

you have to fast so you have a low amount of glucose in your blood and to see if you produce insulin to stablize it then you have to drink the glucose drink to see if your body reacts to it. If your blood sugar levels go too high or too low then you're at risk of diabetes. I had to study this for a-level science :P Thats why you can only drink water aswell. I was underweight before getting pregnant uk size 4 but because i have diabetes in the family that's why they have to do it.
