I googled this (yeah I know...) and what I can find is that only flat or inverted nipples are usually a problem. Mine are definitely neither. The doctor said I should be massaging and pulling my nipples every day to make them longer. I can see that this method is used for flat nipples, but some sources say it can also actually be harmful to the milk ducts. Any experiences? |
I would go ahead and do it- the longer they are the easier for baby to latch on. And unless you are being really, rough, you shouldn't hurt the milk ducts- you are basically doing what baby will do anyway. Another idea- when you get within the last week or so of your due date, if you happen to have a pump, go ahead and start pumping. My midwife had me do this- but you can't do it too soon as it can start labor. Good luck!!!
