I think people just misunderstood what they heard. Formula can't cause your child to become ILL, but breast milk has all the nutrients s/he needs at that specific time and the amount of nutrients in it will vary depending on how much s/he eats and as s/he grows older. I definitely will be breastfeeding my son, even though I hate to think of myself as a 16 year old girl with shrivelled up prunes for boobies!

I'm definitely planning for breastfeeding for as long as I can. Fingers crossed!

But last time when the doctor checked my breasts, she told me that my nipples are too short and I might have trouble feeding. Huh!? I googled this (yeah I know...) and what I can find is that only flat or inverted nipples are usually a problem. Mine are definitely neither. The doctor said I should be massaging and pulling my nipples every day to make them longer. I can see that this method is used for flat nipples, but some sources say it can also actually be harmful to the milk ducts. Any experiences?

I'm breast-feeding all the way. Why would I want to waste $780 on the first year on formula? Then add the price of bottles, and replacing teats. I'd rather spend $900 on me!!!

Breastfeeding. Hate the idea of it but it's cheaper and better for baby. I might give formula milk too if I can't always BF. I know a few people that have done that and said it's perfectly fine to do so

I'm hoping to be able to breastfeed. We'll see how that goes.

But by the time I'm back at work I'll be most probably be feeding her formula. I find the idea of expressing milk at work uncomfortable. Apart from the fact that the only place I'll be able to do it is in the toilet. So.... no I'd like LO to be on formula by then (I only get 3 months off work )

I bf my first and plan to do the same for my second. It's cheaper (by a lot), helps you lose weight, and is better for baby. But I did read a cool quote about bf the other day which I think is so true (I know I will butcher it a little), "Breastfeeding is like marriage. You have to go in fully committed, or you will find a 100 reasons to quit along the way." Though I was lucky and it was really easy with my son, bf is often not easy or natural feeling at all, at least the first time. So if you are not 100% committed to doing it, you will find many reasons to quit...so keep that in mind.
