I'll be starting by trying to breast feed - I managed about 6 weeks with my first. When the m/w started to try to guilt trip me into carrying on, I just told myself anything is better than nothing.

That is a lie. The formulas you buy nowadays are very developed (at least in canada)... as long as you dont buy a really cheap one or something.

I breast fed both of my others until 9 mths. So I'm hoping to again. Apart from it being better for baby you also lose weight quicker and you don't have to spend hours sterilising and making bottles!!! LOL

I am breast feeding my girl, but at times I give her formula as well, especially if my nipples are too sore.

She is growing fine and the doctor said it is ok to give both if unable to BF 100%.

It's all up to the individual but I am going to really try and persevere with breastfeeding if I can.

Breast - it is one thing I am really looking forward, it just seems like such a magical special thing to do. When it looked like we weren't going to be able to have our own my biggest disappointment about adopting was I would miss out on that experience. (And yes, I will be bitterly disappointed if it doesn't work - I'll deal with that if I have to at the time).

Plus, I'm lazy - I canNOT imagine dragging my butt downstairs in the middle of the night to prep a bottle - ugh!

God - I'm really hoping that when it comes to it, I can breast feed. I have to be honest though, and admit that the thought of breast feeding is COMPLETELY frreaking me out. The thought of something dangling off my nipple makes me cringe beyond belief. I 'm hoping that when it comes to it, it is completely different to what I am expecting though.
I think I'm a bit wierd and this is really worrying me. What if I end up with a snotty midwife that can't understand my fears? I have to say, the thought of this is freaking me out more than the thought of labour.

Breast feeding you bond with your wee one some much and it is easier, no bottle warming at night, no sterilising, it is just so natural.
