Unhappy

mucus plug

hi im going to be 26weeks on tuesday and 2day iv read about the mucus plug, i dint even no it existed untill 2day.

however, when reading about the mucus plug iv realised iv been loosing my mucus plug for a while. since i was about 13weeks pregnant.

i dont get it everyday, and its always been clear, i do get a bit of cramping but nothing painful just uncomfortable.

should i be worried? is it normal to start losing your mucus plug so early.
this is my 1st pregnancy and im scared enough about the birth as it is.

please help

hiya, i dont think it is your mucus plug, its quite normal in pregnancy to have an increase in cervical mucus, which is clear in colour and what sounds like you have and is nothing to worry about. the mucus plug normal comes away in the days leading up to labour and is slightly blood stained, its normally known as 'a show'

mucus plug is.....

A small plug of mucus that seals the cervix to protect your baby from infection, often released just before labour. can come out of you all at once or bit by bit. it can be clear or pink.

It could be the increase in your cervical mucus that you are seeing, not the mucus plug, however if I truly thought I was losing my mucus plug at your stage I'd speak with the doctor about it.

I'm honestly not sure myself what the mucus plug should look like....you may try posting a question about it in third trimester, some of the girls there may be better able to help you

the plug is very 'jelly-like' , cm would just be more slimy other than jelly-like.

I have to say I never lost my plug unless it was very blood-stained but I would seek advice because you definitely want to keep the baby in for a long while yet...good luck!

I've heard the mucus plug is like just what it sounds like 'mucousy' - like clear snot, maybe pinkish. The clear, white or yellow cervical discharge that comes out everyday (sometimes in vast amounts) is just the vagina keeping itself extra clean during pregnancy.
