This weekend my sister, sister-in-law and I have been comparing each other's bumps (My sister due next month, while we are due end August). Anyway they noticed that my backside doesn't stick out but theirs does. They seem to think that this means that I am carrying a girl and they're carrying boys. Our local hospital has a policy of not disclosing baby's sex so we have to resort to guessing games.

My mum believes that there are certain times according to the moon when more girls are born and vice-versa. What do you girls think? Anyone have any experience of these old wives tales being correct?

The only old wives tale I find to be accurate about 70% of the time is where your bump is positioned.

I have not found the wives tales to be correct.

I was carrying low and everyone thought it was a boy. It was a girl. Also, her heartbeat was under 150.

Old wives tales are fun but I don't take much heed in them. There's a 50/50 chance either way.

so far the tell tale signs for a girl for me seems to be right!!! Weight all over, thinning hair etc etc!!! however this is my first so dont know how i would look if I was carrying a boy!!!

I have two friends who have one of each and really enjoyed their pregnancy with baby number one (boys) but not so much with their second (girls) but this could purely be as it was there second pregnancy!!

Yeah I have heard about the heartbeat one too. The chinese chart was accurate for a friend of mine but not for me! All this guessing gives me something else to focus on though because I am a worrier.

So far every single old wives tale has been completely wrong!! The only exception was the heartrate which was right.

well, I did the predictor test that someone posted on here a couple of weeks ago - it came out as boy. Just to test it, I then put my husbands details in and it came out as girl!!
Just shows what a crock it is!!
But you're right - it's just a bit of fun and takes the edge off the worrying and other psychotic things us pregnant ladies do!!!

i've never come across any old wives tales that work yet, I've had 4 boys and i carried everyone of them differently.

Well thats out of the window then. Seriously though I know of older ladies or should I say more mature women of my mum's age who are very good at predicting the sex. Unfortunately they don't live near me so can't check out my bump.
