PLS HELP- Antenatal classes!!!!

OMG I AM SO SO SO ANGRY & UPSET!!!!
I thought id ring up the hosp to chase up my antenatal classes & they told me that I should have booked them myself by coming into the antenatal clinic & they have NOTHING for me now!!!!!!!!

HOW HOW can they do this to me???????
When i filled in the first set of forms they sent me, I stated on there which days I would like to attend & handed them to the midwife at my booking appt!!
There was nothing on there which said I had to book them myself otherwise I would have!!!

What can I do now pls help!!!

Poor you. No wonder you are upset . It sounds to me that your midwife hasn't passed on the forms you filled in and therefore it is her fault - could this be it? I would bring it up with your midwife as this is NOT your error. I believe everywoman has a right to antenatal classes and it is a disgrace they are telling you they have nothing for you.

I got a leaflet in the other day about phoning up to book my classes as I told my midwife I wanted to attend the evening classes so hubby could come with me. So I phoned up and got greeted by their answer machine and had to leave a message stating when I would be starting my classes. I am a bit anxious about not speaking to a 'person'.

Good luck and I hope you get this sorted out as it not acceptable.

Firstly, can I just say that you don't need antenatal classes, honest. So don't work yourself up too much about it. I do agre with above though, it's your midwifes fault for not imforming you correctly, therefore, she should really sort it for you. I went to one antenatal class with my first son... never again. It was really full on, and I'm not that sort of person tat can sit there and pant and roll around on the floor with 20 other women Hope you find solution

I thought about it, but decided to not take them and never have. I figured, women in all generations have had babies and they didn't go through them. Once you are in labour, you'll know what to do.

I'm hoping to go down there in a bit if I can get away from work a bit earlier.
Failing that I might have to go & see my gp this evening & see if she can chat with me for a few mins!!
I am disgusted

I have been phoning for the last 4 + weeks to try and book into classes and left loads of messages. No one has bothered getting back to me. I'm actually that annoyed about it that i probably won't bother.

I went with my best friend when she had my godson. We really didn't learn much, so my OH and I have decided to only go to Infant CPR training. Sorry for your difficulties!

Hi,

I know lots of people are saying not to bother, which is fine, but if you did want to do them, apparently you can do private ones through the National Childbirth Trust. My friend did these and had to pay, but she made some good friends who she is still in contact with.

Hoping I looked on the net & found these- they are about £200!!

So I went to the hosp & apparently even though they send out a form with the booking appt information u are still expected to go to the antenatal clinic & book ur classes!! make sense?? NO!!!!

Anyway no point in arguing with them- they wont get me on.
Apparently they have 80 classes & 400 woman appx so not many get them!!!

I am still so angry!!!

I guess now the only option I have is to find some that i'll have to pay for??

RUBBISH NHS!!!!!
