Consultant Meeting on Tuesday...

I forgot to post on Tuesday after my appointment on Tuesday to request a c-section this time round.

As I'd guessed, she wasn't very forthcoming. She proceeded to tell me her whole pregnany experience, and she had had SPD pretty bad too, which I thought would be a good thing. But no. She only had it in the second tri, and it got better when the baby was high...

Anyways, she told me that SPD wasn't a reason to have c-sections, it is a major operation, I will be recovering from two posnatal things... c-section & SPD..... blah blah bloody blah....

I went on to say that this is what I want, I've done my research, spoken to others who've had cesareans, and have been in contact with the pelvicpartnership.org
She stopped and said that she wasn't going to talk anymore as she didn't want to waste her time !!! I immediately felt guilty.... but I'm sticking to my guns...
She wnt on about court cases, and all sorts.. it was a really bizarre appointment actually, looking back
I also said that I really wanted a sterilisation at the same time. I understand the 'wait 6 month' policy, concerning anything happening to your chil/children. But if anything did happen, having another baby wouldn't be an option for me. I never want to be pregnant again.... I've done my time !!
Anyways, I'm 'not in a fit state of mind' ( she waved her fingers in circles by her temples as she said this!!! ), to make that decision, as I'm pregnant, so it wouldn't even be considered.

I have to go back at 36 weeks to see them again about the c-section. SHe did say that if my cervix is favourable then, they will consider inducing me at 36 weeks, as the SPD always gets way worse after then.... Lots to think on

...just an update on all that

Wow,I see she cooperated nicely...

If this is what you want and you belive it's the best solution for you-glue yourself to your guns.Personally, after reading how much pain you've been through and the split pelvis after your last delivery... I would also go for a section(even though I know nothing about it ).

As for the sterilization, why don't you get your husband to have a vasectomy?
I mean,for you it's a bit more complicated,for him it's basicly snip,snip and he's shooting blanks...just an idea.
I don't think I'll be having more kids either,so I'm with you on that one...

Hope you resolve everything with your consultant...

Helpful then... not. Sorry to hear that it was a useless and disappointing appointment. Stick to your guns though. We know what's best for our bodies at the end of the day.

Omg. How unbelievably snotty of her.

I'm glad you're not letting her swing your decision and that you're still sticking to your guns.
What does it matter to her anyway what you'll have to recover from and what you're doing? You've done your research and you've decided that you feel this is your best option.
I hope you get your wish.

Cheers girlies

And Amy.. I did give the leaflet to Derek about having the snip... he went green and nearly passed out

I will end up with the Mirena coil, which is fine, but I would hav just liked it sorted at the same time as the c-section. Nevermind, can't have everything.

Dont they keep banging on about 'choice' in the NHS these days??

Stick to your guns. If she tries to talk you out of it sit there with your fingers in your ears saying loudly 'Doctors talking, Ann-Marie's not listening, LA LA LA LA, cant hear you, LA LA LA LA'.

x

I've been keeping my eye's peeled for an update on how you are doing. Things must be very different in the UK than here (US). I practically have to beg for a vbac (they would love to schedule a repeat c) and one of the first things my midwives asked was *if* I did end up with a c-sec, did I want to go ahead and get my tubes tied "while they were in there" I don't know why- but that made me laugh. Hang in there- and as the others have said, if you have done your research and have decided what is best for you, stick to your guns!!
