Hi everyone, just wondered how many scans everyone had? My sil is pregnant and has just had a scan at 10 weeks but has apparently been booked in for another at 12 weeks, another at 15 weeks and has still been told she'll get a 20 week scan. I find this really strange as i had lots of complications in the early months and only had a scan at 5 weeks and then the usual 12 and 20 week scans. Her pregnancy has been without trouble so far so wondered why she was getting this special treatment!!

ive had one scan from my hosp bt ive been told now i have to have growth scans every 2 weeks from 26 weeks but the early ones im not sure about maybe theres something they are monitoring? i hope all is well with both of you tho

It could be the preference of her doctor/midwife. It all boils down to their decisions.

I think we all would. LOL

But consider yourself lucky. Here in my part of Canada, we get one scan only at that's at 20 weeks. Thank goodness since my last pregnancies, 4d scan clinics have opened.

I had one at 13 weeks and one at 20 weeks (public scans) and paid for a private 3D scan at 27 weeks

Wow! Shes very lucky! Maybe they do want to monitor something? Or shes just got a very nice maternity unit! Does she live in the uk?

I have had four scans:

* one at 6 weeks (due to a bit of light brown spotting)
* one at 14 weeks that I paid for privately
* another one at 14 weeks - due to a delay with the NHS (I didn't mean to have two in the same week!0.
* one at 18 weeks - yesterday due to some leakage (see my thread on this), which turned out to be ok

I will have my 20 week scan in a few weeks.


I think they normally only give you one or two scans, unless you have had a problem or issue that needed looking into. Also, some people's scans have been private ones.

I'll have 4 scans.I had one at 8 weeks,one at 12,one at 15+1 and I'll still have one at 22 weeks.But I go privately...

I don't know why.
I guess it's different everywhere,I know some people only have a 12 week scan.

I had to have 1 at 5 weeks as they thought she was ectopic, then in this part of the UK we get the 12 and 20 week scans plus any we want to pay for privately, but I'd just never heard of anyone having 4 scans with none of them being private!

I guess maybe i should stop being so nosey and let her carry on with her 4 scans and count myself lucky that i got 3!! lol
