Big dilemma stay or go!!

Hi girls got a bit of a dilemma i'm supposed to be driving down to Plymouth this weekend to see my mate Nic and her 2 kids also my other friend Jan is driving up to meet us on Sunday from Cornwall with her little girl [she is also 20wks pregnant at the moment] me and hubby are staying in a hotel so should be brill weekend, problem is Nic has just phoned to say she has been laid up all week with really bad flu she couldn't walk or anything and had to go to hospital she said she feels better now but is still struggling to close her hand, the kids haven't caught it but she wanted to tell me so i can make up my mind as she would hate me to get it. I then spoke to Jan and she has had a tummy bug all week along with her hubby and little girl although they are all on the mend now but still not 100% but she is still going to cornwall and she thinks it will be allright for me to go. I've been looking forward to this for ages as we don't get to catch up much and now i don't know whether to take the risk i have tried phoning midwife but her phone is off so gonna try again later. i also have to make my mind up today or else i have to pay for my hotel so what do you's lot think?

It is a tricky one but you can fall ill by going to the supermarket. So unless you're going to live in a bubble for the next 20 weeks, I doubt many will stay illness free. You could always go and have a weekend away with OH if you don't decide to see your friends.

But moral is, if you're going to get ill. you will no matter what you do x

Mmmmmm, not sure, I know what's it's like to look forward to something and then not have it happen. Ooooh I would be so tempted to just go, but the chances of catching what they have ...... not sure. BUT, maybe the catching phase is over and the germs are not with them anymore!!?

Like Becky says, if there's a bug going round, you may end up getting it anyway even if you don't go! Is it better to have a fab weekend with your mates if you MIGHT get ill anyway??????? Oh I'm not much help, sorry

I agree with Becky in a way.
During the course of the day you are in contact with so many sick people without even realizing it.And I think closing in a bubble can be very impractical

You've been looking forward to this...maybe she even feels better, those kinds of thigs fade away each day a little.

Think people are more infectious before they show symptoms so the fact they have had it already is probably more safe; I would go...its not like it is mumps/measles or anything dangerous...

Nic's mum has just had it aswell this flu thing and she has said she don't advise me to go as she thinks it's that bad i could lose little one as it knocked her for six for over three weeks, then she said she doubts i'll catch it from Nic as she is over the worst of it! How was that supposed to help me make my mind up it's just confused me even more!
