Hi!
Just a quick question.
Have any of you girls had your amniotic fluid measured and if so, what was your measurement?
The reason I ask is that today, I when I went to the toilet I realised that my knickers were quite damp. After reading that a few people on here have been having problems with leaking amniotic fluid, I phoned up midwife unit. After various phoning around different departments (no-one was in on my midwife section and the antenatal clinic was too busy), I finally got a response from the Early Pregnancy Unit (they are great - I can't praise them enough!) who told me to come in for a check up.
They did an internal examination and said my cervix was tightly closed and that there was no fluid coming out of my uterus (they even made me cough to see if that would force any out!). She said there was some white discharge in my vagina but it looked normal. She took a swab of it anyway to send off to see if it is thrush (but she doesn't think so).
They then gave me an ultrasound (they were really great doing all this for me) and baby was very active - kept bouncing around! The ultrasound said that the fluid looked normal to her and that the deepest pool measured 41.7 - I think this is in mm. She even put my date forward one day when she took the baby's measurements.
Now, I know to do a proper amniotic index thingy, you have to measure four separate pools and add them up - but I was just wondering what other people's measurements were and if this seemed about right for where I am.
I am such a worrier - as you probably have guessed!!!
