I just wondered if anyone could help. I am now 14+3, and at my 12 weeks scan and bokking in appointment, I told the midwife about a colposcopy and cone biopsy I had a few years back. I had heard that if you had quite a lot of the cervix removed in this procedure, it can cause MC when the baby gets a bit bigger because the cervix isn't strong enough to hold it in. I was worried but apparently if they think you need to, they'll put a stitch into your cervix to support it. Has anyone had this? I'm just worried because the MW said that if the Consultant thought this would need doing, then they would contact me, and that we over a week ago and I've heard nothing. I don't know whether to chase or not.
My friend has had two of her pregnancies stitched. They wouldn't do it in this one until she got to 20 weeks. You should get a 16 week check with your GP / MW. You're best to ask about it then to put your mind at rest.
I've heard of it being done, and I think it's quite common these days. Personally if it were me I'd still pursue and make sure that they keep on top of the situation, just in case the need does arise, so you can get the stitch done quickly.

It is good that you told your midwife about your prior procedures.
I had a conal biopsy done when I was 30. During my first day of induction with my first pregnancy, it was brought up. My gynecologist looked stunned and asked why I didn't tell her. UGH! She was the one who did it and it should have been in my charts. Anyhow, I've totally forgot about this until you brought it up.
My baby was held in very well but, my cervix did nothing while I was induced for two days. The scar tissue was what prevented anything to happen and I ended up with an emergency C-section.
This may or may not happen with you, but just wanted to let you know my experience.
I thank you too. I've totally forgot why I wasn't progressing during the induction until you brought posted this thread. I remembered the conal biopsy but totally forgot that it was the reason why I wasn't progressing. See, you tend to forget the bad experiences of delivery and go on to have other children. LOL
