Choosing not to have double test

Hi me, and DH have decided to opt out of the spina bifida/downs syndrome test. Has any one else decided not to have it? The reasons we have decided not to are because even if they come back high risk we don't want to risk having amniocentisis, and then having loads of worry for the rest of my pregnancy.
Just wondered what your views were ladies?

I didn't want the Amnio done. I did have the bloods done because it would of given me a rough idea if the baby had it and maybe time to prepare. I decided if my baby had either it wouldn't change anything.

It's totally your choice hun. I didn't have it done with my son and hes absolutely fine.

Oh and to add, you don't HAVE to have the amnio, it's just an option thats offered and recommended.

I choose to have them done even though I wouldn't have wanted to have any further tests done (amnio) if I had came back as a high risk. It was more to give myself an idea and to prepare myself more than anything. I came back as a low risk but there is always a risk isn't there..

We have decided against it..

Midwife expained to me that she has seen cases which come back in conclusive, which would make me pankic when there might be nothing wrong. Then if it came back high risk, it might also be wrong but i would worry.

Just think its a bad idea. For me i feel what can i do if there is anything wrong? just worry for the rest of my pregnancy? get down and sad?
Id rather just have my baby and hope its happy and healthy. If not, we will deal with it at the time when we have the proof infront of us, litrally

I decided not to have it for exactly the same reason. Why worry myself being "high risk" when I wouldn't have the amnio and I can just be nothing and wait.

2 of my friends had high risk results, then had an amnio, but everything turned out alright, and my cousin was low risk, but her little boy( who is just gorgeous by the way) has Downs syndrome.
What will be will be.

We had the triple blood tests done, but i wouldnt want anything invasive done...its confusing because its only a rough guess everything could be fine (or not). I think if the tests had come back as high risk for downs for example, id just prepare myself for this but i wouldnt have more tests done. My sisters friend was told she had high risk of her baby having downs but was born perfectly healthy-so was it worth her worrying. I dont know.
