The slimmer I got afterwards, the less you could see them and now you cant see them at all....Im really hoping because my skin has already stretched, It can cope ths time!!! lol
what colour was they lol? ive got a horrible purple one on my tummy i really hope they go silver and hardly noticeable after the birth
They were reddish purple. The ones on my hips were the worst..like a deep purple. Dont worry, they will fade eventually..you cant see mine now

I haven't got any stretch marks yet but I'm taking all precautions to avoid them. I bathe in baby oil and smother myself in baby oil and palmers tummy butter in the morning and at night. I'm a greasy mess when I get into bed after a bath but I don't care if it's helps to minimise those marks it will all be worth it!!

My Mom told me that it's just genetics, so even if I were to put on all the lotion in the world, I'll probably still get them.

Actually, it IS true that it's genetics. And just because your mum never got them, doesn't mean that you won't. You got a set of genes from dad, too, and that may be what's dictating your stretch mark status.
There is absolutely no scientific evidence that bio-oil or any other cream/salve/moisturizer/oil/potion/etc will prevent stretch marks. The most they will do is leave you feeling nicely moisturized (or maybe a bit slippery, from what some of you described? ) and lessen the appearance of stretch marks. I don't think there's any harm in pampering yourself with a nice cream, but I have a problem with some of the claims that Bio-Oil and others like it make. Not to mention the price of them.
Stretch marks occur at a much deeper layer in the skin tissue than topical applications will reach. As long as you know that these lovely lotions have a limited purpose, then enjoy them, but I really think that stretch marks are just something you need to get philosophical about. Sorry, but you can't prevent them.

My dad doesn't have stretch marks either lol... Sorry but that's just an old wives tale about it being genetic.

Well I use palmers olive butter every morning after bath/shower all over (especially bum, boobs, tummy hips and thighs) and bio oil or mum to be oil every night without fail agin on tummy, boobs etc again. It doesn't take that long to do it, I have just made it part f my routine. Touch wood I don't have any yet and will hopefully avoid them but if they get me they get me, at least my skin feels fab!!

Stretch marks are caused by the skin stretching from the inside layers, so unfortunately if you are prone to them you're gonna get them no matter what you do. Oils may help prevent how severe they are, but won't stop you getting them. However I still think that massaging oil and creams into your bump is a nice way to bond with your bump and enjoy your pregnant body and keep your skin nice!
