I'm Currently Feeling: | getting worried... no movement yet?? Ok girls, so I have read online & magazine articles and asked a few people but i'm still worried. Am jus looking for more opinions really, this is my first child and there isn't really anyone i know who i can ask. I shall try and explain as basically as possible but it's difficult!
I've just gone 18 weeks and i've still not felt any 'movement' i don't think. There's been no popping bubbles, fluttering or tickles as described. Out of the Articles i've read most of them say you should begin to get feelings from 16 weeks. I do however, get proddin pains in my tummy, when I tell dp about them we both in turn push down to, what i can only presume is, the wall and we can feel throbbing which has been get stronger every day. We have presumed these were light kicks? I've been observing these and they tend to happen in the evening mainly, probably because i'm more relaxed but on occasion they happen in the afternoon, especially if i'm walking about a lot. I'm a bit confused though at why would i feel light kicks and not movement? Or are they not kicks at all and movement although that doesn't really explain the throbing? I'm sooo confused.
Dp listens to my stomach quite a bit and it appears Lo has risen and got stronger. It now seems its settled around my belly button and he can hear it thump. First he said it sounded like washin up, now he says it sounds like Lo's playing cricket. Its good he can hear because it's really my only source of knowledge so i know it's ok but i'm still starting to go out of my mind. I've got my 20 week scan coming up nxt week aswell which is making me more nervous.
I did get back my blood results from the triple test last week which told me 1:2500 for downs and low chance of spina bifida ( which i hope is good) but will they have checked my pregnancy hormones to?
I also don't feel like my stomachs growing, (i didn't have a flat tummy before so that makes it harder to judge) altho dp says thats in my mind and its grown and is taking more of a rounded shape. I jus feel fat tbh .
Sorry for whining on i'm jus getting so worried. Any advice at all will be very much appreciated | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Like you said, your first pregnancy. It might just be baby has given out little kicks that you haven't noticed. Also most doctors say some people don't feel movement until 22 weeks. So I really wouldn't worry hunnie | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I didn't feel my first movements until after 19 weeks, and even than they were very sporadic, and I didn't feel them daily. I don't think there is anything to worry about it | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's only lately I've started feeling proper movements that I can say for sure is the baby, and I don't have a proper bump yet either, but I know I'd realise if there were any problems and I wasn't exactly slim to begin with so I try not to worry too much...especially as this is my first pregnancy so some things are less noticeable earlier first time around from what I've read from everyone else on here. Try not to worry too much | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Try to not read the articles as some are written by woman who have experienced them early. I too have seen some that say by week 16 you should feel baby. Some of the articles are written poorly. It's not the case with every one nor every pregnancy.
I think it's only because I've been pregnant a few times before that I noticed more quickly this time around.
I am quite sure everything is ok with your LO and give it a few weeks and I bet you will start feeling baby. | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | I know some women who don't feel kicks until about 24 weeks, and you wouldn't necessarily feel movement just because you're feeling kicks.. the uterus is still MUCH larger than the baby is, you start feeling movement when the uterus is squishing the baby, I felt kicks first and didn't feel movement until about 4-5 weeks later. | | | | Status: Offline

| pg is so hard in the earlier days we worry about everything, and I know no matter what anyone says its really hard not to! But be reassured that although you may not be feeling movement yet, your little one will be doing all kinds of somersaults inside you, but just not quite strong enough for you to feel yet! But beofre you know it you will be feeling them! As someone said it might not be until about 22 weeks xxxxxxx | | | | Status: Offline

| Is the 'throbbing' you describe like a twitch or a prod? If so this sounds like baby and is the type of movement I'm mostly getting at the moment and have been getting since about 18 weeks. However, for me these are not painful which sounds more like stretching, perhaps?
It seems from reading posts from the other ladies on here that lots of people start to feel baby later than 18 weeks so don't worry - my MW said around 20weeks is normal.
Also, it's not unusual to not show at 18 weeks either.
I hope your scan goes well and is reassuring (I still have 9 days to wait for mine). | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bless you !! You sound like you're getting yourself into a right tiswas !! It's perfectly normal not to feel movements yet, especially with your first. When they did your bloods for the tests, they were testing your pregnancy hormones... I can see where you're going, and yes, there is most definetley a baby in there The little twitches are most likely kicks, but you may not feel them properly for a good few weeks yet.
p.s. Thats really sweet that your boyf is listening in to your tummy aw | | | | Status: Offline
