palpitations? is it anxiety or pregnancy related?

i have been getting palpitations that usually come on when my heart races, but not always when i have a racing pulse tho the majority of the time. anyway, last night i got all worked up about something health related in my family and i started gasping for breath and experiencing palpitations- then this morning i was feeling a bit breathless and felt my heart thud; so i took my bp- my pulse was 119 and that frightened me which in turn bought on palpitations. im so confused, im not sure if its pregnancy related, anxiety issues or theres a problem. they go away when i sit down quietly for a while and my pulse returns to normal...also if i get stressed out about something, like if my son plays up, i get them then too.

I have been getting these too hun, but they seem to be pretty random. Sometimes it will be because I am wound up but others could be just me laying down watching TV. I am at the midwife today, will ask for you

I get them really badly! Lying down especially. Apparently if you lie on a certain side they can feel worse. I'm not anxious so they are pregnancy related for me although. I did get them occasionally before pregnancy, just nowhere near as bad x

It can be quite scary. I get the thud ones too - it takes my breath away. I was a bit worried but it's meant to be normal. It's always worth bringing it up with the midwife again when you see her but I'm trying not to let it worry me. I see mine next Thurs so I will prob mention it if they continue xxxx

I've always had infrequent palpitations, but they are definitely way more frequent since becoming pregnant. I'd say yours are probably a combination of both stress and increased blood flow from the pregnancy.

I've had palpatations too, haven't checked my blood pressure or anything at the time, but I was at a consultant appointment a few weeks ago and mentioned it so they did an ecg there and then and nothing bad came up so they are not concerned.

The lady doing the ECG said she gets them too and they happen for a variety of reasons. I don't think it's too much of a concern, but certainly worth mentioning to your midwife.

I did read that lack of iron can cause palpatations and I know my iron levels are fairly low as I have been prescribed iron tablets xx
