question RE work/sick leave

Morning Ladies, Just a quick question,

Ive had a really bad week this week, aches and pains, and just feeling totaly drained, I've been getting back ache this week. I'm wondering if i should bob to the GP so he'll advise me to take a few days off work

I'm working this weekend, I do care work so Ive been finding it hard to keep bending down alot, during the week i can put up with it, i only have aboutt 5 hours worth of work really, but when its weekend they've been giving me 10-12 hours, and I know I'm going to struggle this weekend!

The thing is I don't get my weekend rota till friday night (my incredibly organized office are CRAP) so won't know if they've given me too much work untill the office is actually closed and can't do anything about it, i've already asked them i'm struggling at weekends, should I risk it and just see how it goes? or should I just go to the doctors and tell him i'm struggling at work so he'll tell me to take a few days off work?

sorry for the mini rant

For your well being and that of your babies, you should have some time off...At the end of the day, your health is priority over any job!
If they're decent employers then they should understand what your going through!
Get better soon

Yep, see the gp hun. Care work is very hard work, and if you feel that you need to rest then i'd listen to your own body.

I saw my GP on Monday with a week of severe headaches and she straight away said would you like a week off sick ? I turned her down but said to DH after I will remember that if I feel like a I need it going forward.

If you feel you need it honey go and see them.

I went to the GP, and he took some blood, said my pulse rate was a bit high, but didnt really look concerned, sent some blood off to check i'm not anemic (sp?) and signed me off for a week, but has written tiredness on the doctors note, so when i hand that into work it sounds really pointless ha ha

That's too bad he wrote that there. The doctors here would NEVER write a reason. For mine, they just said some "concerns in the pregnancy"...and wrote me off for the rest of my pergnancy. Well, regardless of how it sounds, you have to realize, you are doing what is best for you and baby...and you have the note...so they can just lump it! LOL!

have you had a risk assessment done? you shouldn't be doing anything that may harm the baby such a lifting, excessive bending down etc.

yeh i've had a risk assesment, but its more of the simple things, like crouching down to put some one's socks on, or walking up and down the stairs, and even getting in and out my car as i go from client to client, just makes me feel all worn out, but ill have a week off, i can leave as early as the 12th april so ill just see how things go, its more the weekend i struggle with

i know how u are feeling, i work in the care profession aswell in a private care home and there as much use as a chocolate tea pot!!
They are also totally unorganised with the rota, i was working 12 hour shifts but it was too much i was near sleeping half way through the day!

When i wasnt well i got signed off my OH took my sick line in to my manager who couldnt have been nicer asking him to make sure i was ok, as soon as i came back to work she was a complete bitch to me took me into her office and asked me if i thought i was the only person who had ever been pregnant!! im 22 and she told me i was far to young to even know what my body was going through and to grow up!!!

anyways.......sorry for my rant id go to the doctor and he'll sign u off lols sorry if this seems like useless info!

haha
