Hi, the midwives/health visitors always seem to advise you to use water, but its not always convenient or practical, to be honest, unless you or your babys dad have sensitive skin, eczma etc then I think its fine. Ive used products on all my 4 babies and theyve never had a reaction or anything. Although I prefered to use 'Simple' products for my last 2.

If you, your other half or anyone in immediate family has eczema i would avoid using any perfumed products or products that contain sodium laureth sulfate (this makes the bubbles). My son has had eczema since 6 weeks he's now 3. I stopped using johnsons and used oilatum, e45 products even wheatgerm put in some tights!!and now use products from my local health shop. I've heard that products by the green people are good. With the baby i am expecting i will not use perfumed products like johnsons. But at the end of the day it is trial and error and you should use products that work for you.

The information I've read says that you shouldn't bath your baby till the cord has fallen off. Only sponge bath them. After that then bath them normally. Just not everyday. 3 times a week is fine. Otherwise you'll dry their skin out.
They didn't say baby products are bad. I can't see how a baby brand that makes products for newborns that has been around for years is going to cause issues.
It depends on the baby and their skin I'd think.

I'll have to wait and see what works best for my LO though.

i plan to use Aveeno too, thats what i use myself and they make things in unscented. Johnsons baby lotion smells great but it is VERY heavily perfumed which isnt good for adult skin, much less newborn...
