Totally Random thought....

This is TOTALLY random, but I thought it might be curious to see how everyone views it...(Saw it mentioned in another thread and thought I would ask) How does everyone feel about firearms being in the home with babies? (And obviously not like out in the open leaning on the living room wall, but in secure gun cabinets, etc)

Very random!! Hadn't ever thought about it before but I guess not very comfortable but it's not really the norm in this part of the world. Probably not so worried with a baby in the house but as the child grew I'd becoming increasingly concerned. But that's just me, I'm not really used to that kinda thing!! ;-)

Yah it's illegal in the UK, there's permits for hunters etc.
My hubs is from Cali and when we eventually move back to the states, not sure where, he does want to get one, but like you said it will be in a secure place where only we know where the key is etc.

When we went to AZ a few years ago, went out to the dessert with friends and family and I fired my first gun, gotta say it's pretty cool but scary at the same time.

I think it's be more common in the good ol USofA. Here in the Uk it's most unusual.

However...My husband is bang into his history, and owns two ww1 guns and a ww2 gun..he's also into his toys and has a bow and arrow set, airpistols and two different sized crossbows..could be just as dangerous as a gun!

We won't be getting rid of any of this stuff because we're having a baby, but we will make sure it's out the way and safe. Once baby is old enough we'll just teach them that they are NOT to be played with!

its not illegal in britain you have to have a licence and it has to be kept in a secure locked metal cabinet,my father owns guns and has done for yrs mainly shot guns,i grew up with them in the house and i learnt to respect them for what they were dangerous weapons but for enjoyment in the right place and situation, thats the trouble nowadays with many things no RESPECT.

Oh i think it may have been me who mentioned it...but it was in terms of taking my dog shooting (im not going to get a gun or take him shooting, the dog that is).

I wouldn't have one in my house, but i live in the UK anyway.

Did anyone watch Jeremy Kyle yesterday afternoon? He was interviewing Jade Goodies mum, who said the man she was with kept a gun under jades cot!!! OMG i couldnt believe it, I was gob smacked.

That's what I meant, it's illegal without a license/permit. Knew someone was gonna say that lol

Yep I saw that (one of the few perks of being off work with tobsilitis!) jades mum seemed quite blasé about it I thought - isn't it strange what becomes 'normal' for you?! I'm terrified of guns, knives etc and really wouldn't feel comfortable with on in my home, children or no children.
