Mothercare GRRRR....

We ordered a cot bed from mothercare 3 and a half weeks ago from mothercare online. The cot bed had £100 discount until 12pm that night. They sent an email saying it would be delivered in 4 days and we've only JUST received an email to say that they are unable to fulfill the order!!! Not a happy bunny. I kept thinking that because it's mothercare they won't mess us around - how wrong I was! Imagine if I'd actually needed it!! Grrr...

Sorry for the rant. Anyone else been messed about?

Oh dear, you would think mothercare would behave better than this! Have you rang up the customer services, but make sure its for the internet. Not really sure what you would say tbh.

I've had a problem with Vodafone's internet team (not quite mothercare, sorry). I upgraded my phone online, they said it was to be delivered and a really old, ugly phone arrived which i didnt order! I was a bit gutted so rang to get it changed, but it didnt turn up. Rang again, organised the same, didnt come again. They then picked up the wrongly delivered phone but never gave me the one i wanted. Had loads of trouble, dropped my phone down the loo, haha, so didnt have a mobile...could rant forever as i still havent got it sorted, i want to cancel my contract but got told it will cost £500...i've informed them that citizens advice have confirmed they have breached their contract and I need not pay a penny. A few more phonecalls may solve it if not im clueless.

Sorry its O/T but i got told not to trust online teams, but i do the majority of my purchases online. Let me know what happens

Thanks miss Hamilton! I do most of my purchases online too - huge fan of eBay butvi thought I wouldn't get my cot from there because I didn't know what the quality would be like and thought mothercare it's a reputable company, they won't let me down. Lol!!! I'm going to start by ringing some mothercare stores to see if anyones got it in stock and my mums already drafting a letter! She's really good at this sort of thing! I wouldve thought the least they could do is to offer the same discount off of their other cots.

I would call their customer services number hun and get THEM to do the ringing around to see if anywhere has it, after all its their mistake that they allowed the order to go thru! if not why not ask them if they can offer an alternative at the same rate? always worth a try and there may be something else they can offer that you like as much x x
Good Luck x

Thanks Mercy - good idea! Just really disappointed that they didn't bother to let me know sooner. Really surprised with their customer service thus far!

Im not a big fan of mothercare to be honest as I find they are expensive, and I dont have much luck when it comes to ordering online. I either get sent the wrong stuff, it goes missing or never even turns up as the store doesnt have the stock to fufill in the first place. I find this with a lot of companies these days, they lure you in with great offers and get your money, and then keep you waiting for weeks on end with little or no correspondence. If you chase things up you get put on hold or dealt with an incompentant un helpful person who just wants to get rid of you.
I think the UK sucks in terms of customer service.

I agree skaterbun but I admit I was really surprised with mothercare - how can such a huge chain be so sh**?!!! I put my faith in them over eBay but I think my trust was misplaced - I've bought loads from eBay over the years (big and small) and have 98% of the time had excellent experiences and brilliant customer service! No wonder the shops are losing out to eBay, amazon etc if this is almost the norm!!

Yes i agree and bigger chains stores are normally the worst, they seem so complacent.
But i ordered something on Amazon and it worked fine. Theres usually some expertise and accountability when it comes to tailor made online ordering.
Chain stores are good at just being high street stores, they dont seem to know how to cope when it comes to the internet demand.
