16 week gender scan???

Hi ladies, just popped over from first tri, will be joining you next week! I have had to book a private gender scan at 16+5, not because I am overly impatient but coz this was the only time my fiancee could make it as he's a marine and can't make the 20 week scan and I really want to be able to share at least one scan with him and especially to find out the gender together!!

So I was just wondering if u know how accurate a 16 week gender scan is? I have heard it's better to go after 18 weeks, but we obviously can't do that. I'm just worried we will find out the result but will be too scared to announce until I have had confirmation at the 20 week scan..which kinda defeats the point!! what were your experiences with a 16 week scan?xxx

frm 12 weeks ur babys has its sex organs and can been seen on scan but its not very accurate. but at 16 weeks it is clear hun so dont worry i found out the sex of my twin boys at 16 weeks but unfortunatly misscarried them a week later. but i am now pregnant again and everything is fine this time round hope this helps u xxxx

We had ours at 16+4 and it was spot on. Just had our 20 week NHS scan today and they confirmed that we are indeed cooking a girlie

A lot won't do it until 18/19 weeks but I can highly recommend Babybond

hiya hun,

i had a gender scan by babybond at 16weeks5days and i was doubtful and had it in my mind that they wouldn't be able to tell but after they got me to jump about to get baby moving i found out i'm having a little boy. it was so clear. better that the nhs scans and i even got to see him in 4D. and there is definatley no doubt that it's a little boy

Got mine at 16w 4d and it was VERY accurate. Your baby's bits are finished developing!! The only problem would be if the baby was co operating and wouldn't show you the goods so to speak. Most place will offer you back for free if that's the case. Hope your little one isn't shy and get lots of good shots!!

You can see it by then. But sometimes like the girls bits are swollen so it might look boyish or something like that. Not too common, but it does happen

i got mine done way before at 13 weeks and they said 70% a boy so yeh by 16 weeks i rekon the percentage should be realy high

I'm having one at 16 + 1... they wouldnt advise them from 16 weeks if they couldnt tell the sex, as this will effect their accuracy percentage xx
