The NUB theory - Guessing the sex of the baby 10 -14 weeks

Hey everyone, I've been reading alot on the 'nub' theory and wanted to know if anyone else has been using this to guess the sex of their baby before they have their 20 week scan. Even after looking and looking at my scan pics...im still not sure! I think girl tho..........!??? I've added my 10 week and 17week scans - does anyone agree???? Anyone else got scan pictures to compare, please add if you do? xx

I have never even heard of the nub theory. At my 17 week scan in my last pregnancy, you could totally tell my son was all boy. But, your scan doesn't look anything like mine did with him, so maybe it is a girl. I'll guess girl, just for fun! Lol... How far along are you now?

hey thanx for the reply! it says in ur wee pic ur due 22nd of Aug!?? thats when i'm due aswell!!! When i had my scan last week the women refused to tell me the sex....and is making me wait for my next scan in 3 weeks! she kept moving the screen when she was measuring the thigh bone so i couldnt even get a good look!... so the waiting continues lol

Yep, I'm due on August 22nd as well! That's awesome! So, you have a gender ultrasound scheduled at 20 weeks? What are you hoping for?

Well, with my son I had my anatomy scan at 17 weeks 4 days, and they told us the sex then. So, I didn't need a gender ultrasound. This time around, our anatomy scan is March 25th (and I'll be 18 weeks 4 days), so we'll see. My doctors are pretty good about telling us, if they know. Our fingers are crossed for a girl! Even if we have to wait till the baby's born to find out!

I can scan my 13 week ultrasound picture tomorrow, but I haven't done it yet. I'll post it here tomorrow, so you can see what you think. With my son's, it was totally obvious! No second guessing, but this time around it isn't, so we're hoping it's a girl!

The nub theory is from 12 - 14 weeks with 13 weeks being the best time so unfortunately there is nothing to be told from your 10 week scan. I can't see anything on the 17 week scan either. Sorry!!! Can't wait to hear what you're having though!

Did you have a week 17 scan, and they didn't tell you the sex? The doctor should be able to tell the sex by week 16. I even got a early guess at my week 14 scan, which turned to be correct (confirmed on week 20).

Skyeblonde20, I told you I'd post my scans today, so here they are. They are my scans from 13 weeks 3 days. I'm pretty sure the first one is the only one where baby is laying on his/her back. Do you see anything?

Hey all, Delmeg i emailed u back before i saw ur post on this! Doh! lol I cant really see a definate line on the first scan but the highlighted lil 3 lines are in line with the spine...So i'm thinking ur right and its a girl! But its a guess - - as are all these things!! but i hope for you it is!! So yeh now im waiting for a sexing scan! I really wanted a boy.... but have thought the whole time its a girl! And the women who told me about nub theory at the hospital when she did my 10 weeks said she thought it was a girl..... lol OH the drama!!!

Katherine - So what are u expecting? The girl who did my 17 week scan was a total 'b'tch' and she totally could have told me...but said 'it was just an anatomy scan to check for downs and spina and if i wanted to know the sex i could ask for a 20week scan'.... So now im having to wait another 2/3 weeks!!.
