Try not to worry your baby isnt measuring that far behind and lots of people can have low amniotic fluid and their babies are fine. My twins have low amniotic fluid and the consultant isnt too worried. You will just have more scans xxx

Hi I'm sorry you have this worry.

My sister-in-law had low amniotic fluid too but she now has a very healthy 6 year old. Will look out for an update. xx

I am in the position where the membrane around one of my twins ruptured at 14+5. (my waters broke). Based on that, I have no doubt that the consultant you see will be quite negative about the low fluid. However, if the sonographer didn't spot anything untoward with your baby at the anomoly scan, that is good news, as it means a lot of very severe problems that can cause low fluid can be ruled out.

Low fluid can cause a lot of development problems, but do remember doctors can be wrong. I know of several ladies advised to terminate as they had zero amniotic fluid around their babies and they were told the babies would not develop, yet they were born absolutely fine.

Drinking as much water as you can cope with can increase amniotic fluid, as the more you drink, the more fluid will be produced, and avoiding caffeine can help too.

Good luck, I hope your appointment goes well.
