Nappies

We have just bought our first pack of pampers new baby size 1 nappies, and I was thinking we would try and stock up a bit, how may of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd size do you think we will need. I would rather buy to little than too many and have wasted money on nappies that don't fit! What's everyone else doing?

With Jac i ended up buying 3/4 packs of each...and because he was 8lb at birth he soon outgrew size 1...so had nearly a pack left and the same for size 2! Ive learnt my lesson....but i still stock up and if ive needed to go up a size i use up a whole pack first and have ened up swapping the full unopened packs in boots or supermaket. Done this a few times and never been refused so i woulodnt worry too mcuh (without a receipt most of the time too!).

So dont worry too much.

xx

Consider that bubs will require about 10 nappies per day in the first weeks... so you pretty much get through them! But yes, just have to be aware if bubs is big that size 1 may not be needed for long. Gd Lk!

I wouldn't stock up on size 1's if I were you. If you have a whopper they'll be out of them in days! Just get the one pack to start, and you can always send someone shopping if needs be.

I also think it might be an idea to wait until your LO has worn some before buying too many. Sometimes different brands fit different babies better. You'll know by whether they leak or not, although this can also be a sign of needing the next size! Generally pampers are better for boys, girls are ok in both pampers and huggies. Cheaper brands are a whole other issue!

My DS was born at 7lb 2oz and we used 3 small packs of size 1 nappies before the size 2seemed to fit him better. We used two jumbo boxes of size 2 before he needed a 3. He had a huge growth spurt and he's not a frequent pooer though, so that probably made quite a difference

Once we got to size 3, I found the shape of the new baby nappies didn't seem to suit him as well, and I started getting other types to try.

I've only got newborn size so far.... I just got some samples from 7th Generation with a couple of newborn size and a couple of first size....There's quite a bit of difference... I take it I should be putting a load of size 1s on my registry instead of newborn?!

We've decided to just add all of the one brand (we already have a small pack of that brand that we bought from Walmart) and then if Bean has an issue with them - they don't work for us, she's allergic or whatever - we can go in and trade them.

xx

i wouldnt go stocking up just yet not only for the size but you might find you prefer different brands too. I tried out huggies & pampers and found i prefer pampers because theyr much softer and a more snug fit xx

My last little boy was 9lb 6oz and he wasn't in size 1 nappies for long at all and like somebody has already said you might prefer a different brand x
