Baby is small...

I had my checkup and baby is still on the smallest end of normal. My doctor asked me if I smoke (which I do not). Is there anything I can do to help baby grow? I had a low BMI before conceiving. I eat healthy and am very active.

You know, I am not a doctor, but ... somebody has to be on the smallest and the highest end of normal! I know it's natural to worry, but if you have a low BMI then it's not strange that your baby would be the same.

My sister is very petite and had a very very small baby - perfectly healthy though and she's doing great at almost a year old! When she was a newborn my sister would take her out and about and people commented that she was like a little doll!

Doctors could do a better job of reassuring people I think, instead of just asking random questions and giving no real answers.

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear, I know that it must be very worrying - but that is my take on things.

I too had a smallish baby my first time but it just runs in my family...BUT...the twins are gaining great weight right now and I attribute it to me eating not just healthy, but making sure I get extra protein in my diet. I drink skim milk to get more protein, eat healthy protein bars, and add protein powder to some drinks as well. This will both help the baby grow as well as strengthen their sac. Good luck!!

I am not a DR, but try to eat all the daily recommendations for pregnant woman, and some women carry smaller babies. Did your DR have any recommendations? Did he seem to be concerned?

if you're small, your baby may well just take after you. i know it's worrying when you're told something like that.
