Had 25 week appointment today.......

......and whilst i was there i mentioned i am having "funny moments". The only way i can describe them is i will be either sat, stood or lay down and will suddenly feel quite unwell and spaced out - like there isn't enough blood getting to my brain and i will also feel very short of breath like im not getting enough oxygen. I told her this and she asked if it was at a certain time of day or after or before id eaten i said no at different times (even when in bed last night) and before or after id eaten so i dont think it's blood sugar.

She has said she is sending me for a heart and lung check as it maybe that i have a heart murmur. Now i did have one when i was first born (twin birth and 3 months early) but i "grew out of it" and it hasn't been mentioned since but she said it is possible for murmurs to return when pregnant due to the increased blood circulation but that if this is the case it should go away again after delivery. However they need to know so they can monitor it and give the baby antibiotics during labour. Why would this be?? Does anyone know? Im concerned this could affect the baby.

Lots of heart murmurs are harmless and can persist into early adulthood, but seeing a doctor is definitely worth it especially with your other symptoms. I'm not sure what having a murmur has to do with getting antibiotics, though.

I hope it ends up being nothing... or something that will resolve after the pregnancy. Sending you good vibes!

Well i had another "funny do" this morning at work. Felt VERY ill and was quite scarey! Called midwife who said to call the doctor and try to bring my heart and lung check forward. Managed to get in with the doctor this afternoon - she checked my heart and lungs and said they are clear and fine although my pulse rate is fast so she sent me up to the hospital for some bloods to be done.

So have to wait now to see what those turn up next week. Felt so awful today though. If it's not physical my dad has suggested it maybe generalised anxiety disorder. As it can present itself in psycosymatic symptoms but we will have to see...........
