I'm Currently Feeling: | Pricing up baby things ... good fun, but I better start saving!!! My mum is going to buy my pram for me as she did for my sisters, so I thought whilst pricing up what's available here, I'll check out other too! It felt weird but bloody brilliant at the same time.
So this is what you can get in Bulgaria:
(It's about 2.60 leva to 1 pound)
The dearest pram was 226 leva and the matching car seat was 75 leva. The make is Chipolino and see I see loads of mothers with these prams. (all about 115 pounds!!)
Highchairs from 50 - 150 leva (nice Disney one for 75)
Cots - 80 - 150 leva
Wooden cot with drawer underneath, rocking cot, drawers at the end with changing table on top - 324 leva
Drawers to match - 155 leva
Car seat - average 75 leva
pack of 98 pampers for new borns - 31 leva
Blankets - 50 leva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A blanket is 10 pounds less than you can buy a car seat for!!!!
Well this is it, baby things are cheap here but clothes are so expensive it's unreal!
So can anyone tell me (those who have done some shopping), would it be cheaper for my mum and dad to buy in the UK or is cheaper for us to go shopping when they come over?? I've looked on a couple of websites but the prices aren't always shown and I can't exactly go window shopping!!
Thanks for your help x | |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've only had a short look around but Clothes in england, on average depending what u want, range from £5 for pack of three baby grows to about £12 for outfits. Depends where your gonna go shoppin really tho obviously somewhhere like Mama n Papas, altho very nice will charge you the earth, but then there are places like babies r us, new look, next, ethel austin etc that don't seem to unreasonable. all the other items you listed tho seem quite cheap.
try looking at; http://www.toysrus.co.uk/default.aspx?zone=Bru or http://www.mothercare.com/gp/home.html to give you a rough idea of english prices.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks Ema for taking time out to tell me. It's hard for me. I've lived here for a while now so everything to me is in leva, cheap for visitors, but we go mad at something going up by 0.01 leva!!!! Costs are rising all the time. I'll take my mum to the shop and she can choose pram and car seat with my help of course, but looks like we will save a lot of money buying it here rather than mum bringing it on the plane!
See, a blanket, 50 leva that's about 20 pounds!!!! I'm sure it would cost less buying in the UK and bringing on the plane and paying excess luggage!!!!
Let's see. The last time I bought my niece something was Xmas. Got a lovely simple top and skirt for a 2 year old and I think it cost about 55 leva. 22 pounds. In the UK it would have cost less than this at George (Oh I miss George!). The outfit I got was from one of the cheaper shops as the others are way more expensive. Trouble is the quality isn't that good either, so I find it hard finding something to buy them and then ship it over! For simple baby grows it cost about 10 leva for one and there are horrible. I know they will only get pucked on a messed up but it's besides the point. The material feels horrible. Anyway, sisters, sisters, I couldn't do without sisters!!!!!! Can't wait for my next parcel!!!

My friend gave me tonnes of her all in one newborn otufis for day to day use, and i've bought a few special outfits for when we take baby out for the day or have visitors. Get your mum going round the charity shops I say!! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm not sure if you have an e-bay but try there. Also second hand cot and get a new mattress.
I haven't bought anything yet but I don't need a cot etc as I already have one. | | | | Status: Offline

Get your mum going round the charity shops I say!! | Well this is why it was frustrating when doc said it MIGHT be a girl instead of saying they weren't sure. My sisters have girls and have a pile of clothes ready to ship over to me, loads and loads of stuff, which would be great, BUT if it's a boy then only the white and yellow or neutral gear can come. Sorry but clothes may be expensive but I'm refuse to put my lad in pink!!!!!! Sorry yes I agree, second hand clothes are gladly welcome. Trouble is I don't know anyone with baby boys, just girls. My cousin has a girl too and is passing on some of her clothes. I have to hope it's a girl (be easier as I can't think of any boys names anyhoo) | | | | Status: Offline
